This year I’ve decided to make Thanksgiving formal. It’s not something I would normally do considering all that I’ve got going on right now with work and the kids, but we haven’t had a fancy Thanksgiving in a long time. Usually it’s casual and our table setting consists of cute paper Thanksgiving plates and plastic forks. In preparation for Thanksgiving day, the ultimate day of family gatherings, the first thing I did was head out to Home Depot and buy some Glade® Apple Cinnamon and Glade® Apple Cinnamon Scented Oil and Warmer.  In addition to getting my house to smell Thanksgiving ready, I also decided to make these DIY faux fur and acorn napkin rings this year.** See DIY below.

With six kids, I need all the help I can get before guests arrive because once they do, the floodgates will be wide open! Every room will be used in one way or another and it’s not an easy task for a hostess to keep it all under control. However, I have somehow managed over the years to learn to focus in on the important stuff, and it always starts with how my house smells. It is my main focus to get my home “holiday ready” and Glade® Apple Cinnamon (a classic holiday scent that instantly gets me into the holiday spirit) products play a huge part in making that happen. Once I’ve got the big stuff taken care of, I can then focus on fun DIY’s like the one below.

DIY Faux Fur Acorn Napkin Rings

The Glade® Apple Cinnamon Scented Oil and Warmer are perfect to help compliment the candle. I like to place them in the kitchen, hallways, every entrance and even the bathrooms. I stock up and buy refills to have handy so that when my guests arrive, it will help bring out the sense of coziness that the apple cinnamon scent gives and won’t fade.

My table setting is going to be simple with white plates and touches of gold and red. I think the faux fur acorn napkin rings and delicious apple cinnamon candles will tie together to form the cozy glam look that I’m going for. The napkin rings are pretty easy to make and along with the candle that I will have lit at the adult table, my formal Thanksgiving day table should be a hit! Being a hostess can be overwhelming at times but when you arm yourself with the right products and add little details that stand out, you can rest assured that it will all go smoothly.

Finding out we were having another girl was surreal! I mean, after having five boys, who would have thought I’d have TWO girls, especially this close in age. Believe it or not, I’m super excited about that. The thought of Olivia having a little sister as a best friend is exactly what I want for her! I often wonder if she will be just like Olivia, who’s very easy going and only fusses when hungry, sleepy or needs diaper changes. What I’m not hoping is that my next baby girl does not have is extremely sensitive skin. I know this time, if she does, I will take precautions from day one and use products that I know I can depend on, like Huggies Natural Care Wipes. Since having Olivia, I’ve been carrying them in my purse, baby bag and even have some in my car just in case I need them, which I always do! ~~ See easy to make DIY framed stuffed animal below!

DIY Framed Stuffed Animal

I’m almost 18 weeks and since we are a super busy household, I am already stocking up and buying Huggies Natural Care Wipes at Babies “R” Us. I even grabbed my baby girl her first pack of Huggies Little Snugglers (now available nationwide) that Olivia still wears herself! Going to Babies “R” Us is SO much more fun than shopping online because they are more than just a retail destination, they literally have all your baby needs covered; swings, cribs, toys and tons of clothes. They’re all super cute too! In case you’re wondering, yes, I did walk out with some outfits and even shoes for Olivia. I couldn’t help myself and since I know I can hand them down to her little sister, I don’t feel as guilty when I buy her a ton of stuff or make this DIY framed stuffed animal.

Did you know Babies “R” Us has in-store Baby Basic classes? These in-store classes are hosted by a local community medical partner, who will teach new and expectant parents how to care for a baby during the first 6 months of infancy. From bathing to diaper changing and more!! **Check your local store (click here to find a store/event near you) for class availability and times.

Now, along with prepping with Huggies Natural Care Wipes and Huggies Little Snugglers, I’ve also been busy decorating the nursery for Olivia and her little sister. I wasn’t sure what theme to go with, but I was sure that I wanted to make as many little decorations as I could. My first one up: DIY framed stuffed animals. A great way to up cycle those unused stuffed animals you have laying around the house. See my super easy DIY below!

I’m that person that is ready to decorate for the holidays the day after Halloween! I’m counting down the days until Christmas before my kids even take off their costumes. I try to incorporate as many decorations (click here to download a free printable wall art perfect for decorating) as I possibly can (minus the tree, we wait until after Thanksgiving) and I prep the house by deep cleaning a few times before the big day. I focus on rooms that  guests will be in, like the bathroom. Keeping things neat and maintaining the bathroom during the holidays can be a full time job, so I try to make it really pretty (see my DIY Christmas Ornament Shower curtain below) and use products like Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber and Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber Refills that I buy at Target, to make cleaning a lot easier and sometimes even fun!

DIY Christmas Ornament Shower Curtain

I know I say this all the time, but I think this DIY is a favorite! This DIY christmas ornament shower curtain can easily be changed with different affordable ornaments and can be done in every bathroom. It even blends in with bathrooms that already have themes for them. For this one, I decided to redo the guest bathroom and I added ornaments, ribbon and garland to the shower curtains. I even went and added some matching ornaments and ribbons to the counters with sparkly lights. It’s such an easy, festive touch that’s super easy to recreate!

This DIY christmas ornament shower curtain, mixed with the likes of Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber (look out for the Instant Redeemable Coupon on each product that says Try Me Now! Save $2) and Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber Refills will ensure that our guest bathrooms will be holiday ready! These products not only reach messes under the rim that competing products miss, but also has a built-in bleach alternative cleaner with pumice that scrubs away rust and hard water stains.

What you’ll need:

Two panel curtains **I use panel curtain (38×84 each) instead of regular shower curtains to give the bathroom a higher ceiling look. Simply raise your shower curtain pole and hang your two panels. Place a second pole at your showers height and add your plastic shower curtain liner.
4 ornaments
Wired ribbon **I bought 4 9 foot rolls.
Ornament hooks
Garland
4 bows
Scissors

How To:

Tie your bow to the ornament.

DIY Christmas Ornament Shower Curtain
Cut your ribbon into your desired length. **I just cut one large ribbon roll in half and use one strip for each ornament. Poke ornament hook through ribbon and attached to the back of the ornament.

DIY Christmas Ornament Shower Curtain
Add your hooks to ornaments and hang off your shower curtain hooks or in my case grommets and adjust your ribbon.

DIY Christmas Ornament Shower Curtain
Isn’t it cute!? The options are endless! You can add bigger bows and skip the ornaments, add multiple types of ribbon or hang sparkly stars and curling ribbon.

With Halloween being only a few days away, my focus has shifted to prepping for Thanksgiving. I haven’t rolled out any major decorations other than a few fall hued items, but this weekend I am going to be putting out this “Be Thankful” printable (download this 5×7 print for free down below). Being thankful isn’t something that should only occur on Thanksgiving, so I think this free Thanksgiving printable wall art will work with any time of the year.

Print this free Thanksgiving printable wall art and put it in the kids room, the living room, or even your Thanksgiving Day table! It’s an easy way to add a thoughtful touch to any decor and it only takes a few minutes to print and frame! Lately, I’ve found myself framing lots of printables because they’re so easy switch out and it’s affordable. I can use them match holiday decor or even just for your everyday look. I tend to upcycle frames that I no longer use by spray painting them (see a glittery one here and a frame turned tray here), but you can easily pick up a few at a Goodwill or even the dollar store.
