For the most part, I’ve always had very long hair, but it wasn’t until I moved to Florida did I realize how much work it really was to style and keep under control. The humidity makes my thick hair hard to deal with and any type of hair styling takes twice as long. My mom has had the struggle since moving here as well, and between the both of us, we’ve gone through our fair share of blow driers. Sure we’ve found a few that had minor improvements over the others, but it wasn’t until we tried the new Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer that the game changed.

It literally exceeded everything I’ve ever wanted in a hair drier. It’s sleeker and so much cooler than I ever though a hair dryer could be. It also came at a great time in my life because styling my hair normally would take 1 hour, while the Dyson Supersonic hair drier cut that time in half. Once the new baby girl arrives, every minute will definitely count, so this is a welcome treat for myself and my mom (I promised we could share since she’s in a constant battle with her hair as well). I figured since I’m the one who normally styles her hair, why not put her to work and show you guys the new new  Hair Dryer results!

The new Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer has 3 precise speed settings easily changed with a slight push of a button. Fast drying, regular drying, and styling. The 4 heat settings: constant cold (great for shine), low, medium, and high. My mom and I both gave it a try on high and fast drying and it does exactly what it’s meant to! I blow dried my moms hair straight in less than 10 minutes! Dyson Supersonic™ styling concentrator shoots focused air that lets you style one section at a time which is amazing for blow outs because it won’t disturb the rest of your hair! Another favorite which we used when her hair was damp: The Dyson smoothing nozzle. It dried her hair gently and smooth, allowing you to dry and style at the same time! I love that!

More amazing features we loved:

  • Helps prevent extreme heat damage to protect natural shine. Air temperature is measured 20 times every second, keeping the temperature under control.
  • Unlike lots of hair driers, Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer is lightweight and balanced. Dyson turned convention on its head and put the motor in the handle (genius). Completely rebalancing the drier’s weight and shape.
  • Magnetic attachments. Only the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer comes with magnetic attachments – so you can adjust quickly and easily.
  • Dyson diffuser. This attachment will be heavily used during the summer where it’s too hot to straighten my hair. It’s engineered to disperse air evenly around each of your hair waves and/or curls. It also simulates natural drying to help reduce frizz and improve definition.
  • Acoustically tuned. The powerful motor is tuned to produce one inaudible frequency, and it’s enveloped by a vibration reduction system. This was a feature my mom loved because she wears a hearing aid and it is super sentive to noise. As for me, I was just happy that my obnoxiously loud hair drier will no longer scare the kids away! Joseph even let me dry his curly hair!

Last, but certainly not least, we both immediately loved the sleek, modern style the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer has. I’m so excited to put this baby to some good use this summer when I’m in a hurry. I know it will be a game changer in how me and my mom both wash and style our hair.

You’d think after having six kids I’d have this whole new baby thing down, but every baby is different! As the kids get older, there’s more activities to attend, which makes for a super busy household. The big age gap between Robert and Joseph (nine years) threw me for a loop. I thought I could wing it with their schedule, and I might have been able to, but Joseph was very colicky and I quickly realized that I could not. When I had Olivia, work was flourishing and a complicated c-section (read all about it here) made everything a painful process. This time, I’m going to try to be as ready as possible and make this a smooth transition. I know the first couple of weeks will require a laid back approach as we settle into a new routine, so I plan on stocking up on healthy foods that can be frozen and easy on the go snacks that can be dipped into this easy to make cajun ranch dressing that I know the kids love.

Once everyone got a whiff of the fact that I’d be prepping food in advance, the first thing I was asked for was homemade cajun ranch dressing (see recipe below).  I plan on storing in individual containers for kids to just grab and go.

It’s a really easy recipe to make that’s extremely versatile and can be used on salads, as a dip for veggies, or even to dip the really really tasty sandwiches by Sandwich Bros. Our favorite is the chicken melt! It goes perfectly with the cajun ranch dip and its packed with protein, making them a great snack to keep you energized and satisfied when you’re on the go.

As I made my usual Sunday Target run, I made the obligatory stop at their Dollar Bin section which is all decked out for Valentines Day. Now, Target’s Dollar Bin section is always top notch, but I find that their Valentine’s Day selection is a favorite! Gifts, decor, and even Valentines Day goodies for the kiddies. I went through it all trying to find Olivia a little gift for her first Valentine’s Day and, as usual, I came out with a lot more and was able to snap a ton of pics of Targets Valentine’s Day Dollar Bin picks and other goodies through out the store.

Mugs to serve your loved ones a cup of coffee.

So much has happened in 2016. While I could sit here and write about all the struggles Franklyn and I have gone through, I instead have decided to turn them into lessons I’ve learned in 2016. I’ve had to mentally block out the hard times and focus on the wonderful blessings we have had in between, like having our first girl, Olivia, and now expecting another girl! It wasn’t easy, but we came out stronger. I’m waiting for 2017 with arms wide open and a whole set of goals for me, our family, and my blog (and a new one coming soon)! Below are three things 2016 taught me.

I’ve alway hated planning and scheduling, and I have been lucky enough to be able to push through. and get things done. 2016 knocked me down a few times and taught me to be prepared. Planning, setting goals, and being prepared for the unexpected (good and bad) is now a priority for me. It took me a long time to realize that it’s what has been missing in my life. I thought living a life of order, well laid out plans and schedules was boring but it’s quite the opposite! Structure gives me the time I so desperately needed to get my business and family life balanced while including having fun time! I’m ready for 2017!

It’s okay to be tired. I’m the type person that likes to keep moving and get things done! The more to do the merrier! Sitting still or taking naps have always been (in my opinion) a waste of time. I wake up, go through my day, and drag out bedtime and try to get as much as I possibly can done. It’s just who I am, and it always worked for me until this year. 2016 has taught me that it’s okay to be tired and get some rest. One the three things 2016 taught me was that I can do anything, but not everything.

My number one biggest thing I learned this year: I’m going to have to bite the bullet and hire out some help. I’m VERY protective and particular in how I raise my kids. I’m not a helicopter mom by any means, but it’s very important to me that they grow up to be genuinely nice people and to be surrounded by adults that are positive influences in their lives. In other words, I never just hand off my kids to anyone that I don’t know very well, and if I do, it’s never for very long. They’re always by my side but with work having doubled (almost tripled) recently and showing no signs of slowing down, I’m going to have to hire out some help ASAP in order to continue on his path.  This is probably going to be the most difficult thing for me because I like to be hands on with everything that I do, but in the end I think everyone will benefit from it.

I’ll leave you with some Christmas pics of the kids. This was probably one of the best Christmases ever!

24 weeks today!
