~ DIY Beverage Napkin Holder ~
Now that Halloween is over I’m in total Thanksgiving/Christmas mode! I’ve pulled down all Halloween decorations and I’m looking for ways ways to start adding a holiday touch to the house without going all nuts and putting up the tree. I really do love the holidays and I’m so very thankful that as a latina we get to elongate the season by celebrating El Dia De Los Reyes, so the tree stays up a little longer and the coquito (thats a latin egg nog) can be poured for an extra couple of days. Speaking of coquito, one of the easiest ways I add a festive touch and get ready for the holidays is by making my traditional DIY napkin holder to hold the Scott drink napkins I buy at BJ’s. I take an old shoe box (I have TONS) and wrap it up with some festive wrapping paper, then use it to stash the napkins on the dinner table for parties. It costs me less than five bucks to make and it can be used for so many other things like holding paper plates, storing plastic cups, and even for El Dia De Los Reyes, to hold gifts under the kids beds. The possibilities are endless because they’re so cheap and easy to make. Also, the kids love to help make them!
I remember when I was growing up and my mom and grandma would make a special trip to BJ’s to buy all of their holiday needs . It wasn’t close by and it was before we had a car, so it was quite the mission to get there, but it was so worth it! I LOVED going to BJ’s because I knew she would come back with all the goodies for our holiday parties, like pernil, sodas, cookies, and, of course, drink napkins, just like the ones I buy now. The Kimberly-Clark’s brand at BJ’s literally has everything from baby products to bathroom products that you can check off your holiday prep shopping list.
Now, as a busy mom myself, I make the trip that is thankfully much closer to get all my holiday prepping done. The Kimberly Clark products at BJ’s make life so much easier during the hectic holidays, which is especially important for me this year because I’m pregnant. I can buy just about everything I need to cook, clean, and have my house ready for guests, and that leaves me more time to spend with my kids during the most wonderful time of the year.
Below is the simple DIY so that you too can recreate the DIY napkin holder to festively hold all of your Scott drink napkins.
What you’ll need:
Shoe box
Scissors
Tape **Any type will do but double sided will leave a cleaner look
Wrapping paper
How to:
1. Trace the bottom of the box and cut. This will be the piece you place of the inside bottom of the shoe box. Place double sided tape on the bottom of the shoe box and press down, then smooth it out.
2. Measure and cut wrapping paper into three sections (one for bottom and two for sides) and do one section at a time (bottom first). When cutting the paper, make sure you cut an extra inch or so for each side to overlap.
3. Tape the short sides on first, making sure you neatly fold into the box.
4. Place four long pieces of tape along the bottom of the box then take the longest piece of wrapping paper that you measured and smooth it out over the tape and wrap around the box. Fold the ends then tape the inside of box. **Dont worry about perfection. As long as it’s smooth and neat, any wrapping technique will work.
Add napkins and leave as is or add some bows like I did.
The key to this DIY looking good is getting stylish wrapping paper that, which you can also find at BJ’s. Right now, BJ’s is offering a 60 day FREE membership, valid through 12/31 and to help get tu casa ready for the holidays BJ’s is giving away a $500 Visa gift card! See below to enter.

This is such a great idea for holding napkins! I tend to lose our metal holder for napkins, so this would be a nice addition to have in our kitchen.
