Fall is very much here and I’m loving it! This weekend I wanted to try out some fruit and veggie stands so I headed out to a new place in Land O’ Lakes called The Family Farm. Now I know this is going to sound ridiculous but I had no idea that you can buy small quanttities of farm fresh fruits and vegetables – in the past I’ve been to places that only sold in bulk and I’m just way too disorganized to fit that many vegetables into my fridge and manage to use them in every dish before they go bad. I need small quantites that I can use on the spot and this place was perfect!
The prices were way lower than most super markets and they had the most delicious homemade jellies and salsa (I bought the corn salsa to use with their vegan veggies chips and it was delish). The Family Farm has a pretty big selection of your basic fresh fruits and vegetables like potatoes, corn and onions but I also noticed that they carry Italian squash, tomatillos, and some jicama They even had the most adorable store painted pumpkins which I was tempted to buy but I promised Robert to take him pumpkin picking. Even though it’s a little further of a drive than I like it to be I’m definitely going back and I’ve also been inspired to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather and drive around to other local stands and see what I find.
