One of the biggest things I learned when I was pregnant with Olivia and now with this pregnancy is I function better on small frequent meals. I’m the type of person of who goes too long without eating and that just wasn’t working for me during either pregnancy. It would leave me not only cranky but weak and craving foods that I wouldn’t normally eat. I started carrying around snacks and my favorite one was trail mixes just like the 20 yummy trail mix recipes below. I especially love that trail mixes are perfect for on the go snacking and can be made in a ton of different ways! Check out these 20 yummy trail mix recipes below.
After six kids you’d think I’d have a solution for picky eaters but I don’t. Instead I’ve learned that it’s more import an tot teach them to make healthy decisions in the foods they eat and in the process have fun with it. For the most part this works with serving certain foods in creative ways but on days where we need a little more encouragement I turn to must have products like the ones below. Below are some Snack Time Fun & Favorites!
We’re a big family, so portability plays a huge part in my decision making process when I buy stuff for the kids. This Snack In The Box is the perfect way to turn fruits, vegetables or favorite cereals into snacks you can eat on the go, making healthy snacking options easier for everyone.
We’ve all seen and bought juice packs, obviously. Just about every kid loves them. Joseph loves the little box and straw, and I love that they also made Drink In The Box possible for fruit infused water or just plain old water. I even used them a few times myself!
I’m always looking for way to introduce new foods to the kids. Even if they turn their nose up at it, we keep finding new ways to serve them in the hopes that the kids will discover and love something new! Last week, Joseph discovered his love for brown rice (weird, I know lol) and I was so excited to make him a variety of dishes with the brown rice. This Learning Resources Healthy Foods Magnetic Set allows kids to independently mix and match different healthy foods in a fun and visual way! Joseph was naming all of the different fruits and veggies, then adding different items to them. When we sat down to eat, he said “can I add the peas now?” I love it!
Who doesn’t love pancakes? Incorporate the classic breakfast favorites with the new game Pancake Pile Up (available at Target). My kids love seeing how high they could stack ‘em and it makes Joseph giggle when they crashed. It makes a great gift!
I pack just about everything but the kitchen sink when I go out with my little ones, so when I saw this Collapsible Bowl, I squealed with delight! These modern looking bowls are perfect for camping or when you’re out for dinner and want a give a small amount to the toddler (that’s what I used it for) and they’re small enough to stash in just about any bag!
Transtioning between a bottle and a sippy cup can often times be hard on kids, but in our case I found it was more of an obstacle between the sippy cup to a regular cup because it meant possibly making a mess just about anywhere Joseph went. The TOMY Mickey Mouse Sippy Cup (available at Walmart) is a game changer! So cute, easy to use, mess free and Joseph loves the big boy look of he cup.
Look mama no hands!
These are just a few of the times that made the entire month of February, which happens to be National Snack Food Month, a lot more fun and educational! How do you make snack time fun?

Growing up in Brooklyn meant I had access to yummy latin food on almost every corner! The options were endless and available at almost any time of the day or night. To this day, it’s still one of the biggest things I miss about living in Brooklyn. Now at home, Franklyn and I do cook primarily traditional latino recipes with a mix of our heritages, with his being Dominican and mine being Puerto Rican. For the most part it’s rice, beans and some type of meat and salad, but for special occasions we do try to mix things up a little. One of my husbands favorite is a Chimi (a dominican Burger). It’s definitely an indulgence and not something we make often. However, ever since I discovered MorningStar Farms® Grillers® Original Burgers that I buy at Walmart, it’s given us a good excuse to make a vegan chimi dominican burger more often, which is obviously a healthier option.
All MorningStar Farms® products are a great option for Lent at a low cost perfect for feeding a large family like mine! One bag of the Grillers was less than six bucks and fed us all, now that’s impressive! Not only are MorningStar products wallet friendly, but they also a great solution for busy families just like mine. Grilling a burger to make a Chimi would have taken a lot more than the one minute the MorningStar Farms® Grillers® Original Burgers take to heat up in the microwave (even my older kids can make them). That’s a super easy way to substitute meat for breakfast, lunch or dinner during Lent season. We even buy MorningStar Farms® Original Sausage Patties and make a vegan version of the traditional dominican dish tres golpe (eggs with a side of fried salami, mangú, and queso frito).
Normally, Franklyn and I would stop at a local Chimi truck right on Myrtle Ave in Brooklyn after a night of dancing (gosh I miss those days) and ate them right there while some type of merengue or bachata would be blasting from someone’s car. The secret to these Chimi’s is all in the sauce, which consists of ketchup, mayonnaise and a dash of worcestershire sauce. There’s lots and lots of different ways and ingredients that you can make the chimi sauce with but we keep ours simple. You have to taste it to truly appreciate how delicious it is topped on a chimi! I’ve since then traded my nights out dancing for popping milk bottles at home with Olivia and Joseph, but I’ve still managed to sneak in those yummy Chimi’s, only a healthier version! See the super easy steps below.
MorningStar Farms® Grillers® Original Burgers I bought them at Walmart
Fresh bread rolls
1/2 cup of ketchup
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 red onion
Salt & pepper
1 1/2 tablespoons of vegan worcestershire sauce
Sauce: Combine ketchup, mayonnaise, worcestershire sauce and mix.
Toast your buns. **We toast them in a frying pan with spray butter.
Throw your MorningStar Grillers in the microwave for 1 minute. **We add a touch of salt and pepper to them but they taste just as good without it.
Add your griller on top of bun, add cabbage, onions and tomato.
Top with chimi sauce and enjoy!
All totaled, my vegan chimi Dominican burger takes less than five minutes to make and is perfect during Lent season. It’s great for when you want a easy to make vegan cuisine but are tight on time and it would even make a great lunch for guest!

For the most part, I’ve always had very long hair, but it wasn’t until I moved to Florida did I realize how much work it really was to style and keep under control. The humidity makes my thick hair hard to deal with and any type of hair styling takes twice as long. My mom has had the struggle since moving here as well, and between the both of us, we’ve gone through our fair share of blow driers. Sure we’ve found a few that had minor improvements over the others, but it wasn’t until we tried the new Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer that the game changed.
It literally exceeded everything I’ve ever wanted in a hair drier. It’s sleeker and so much cooler than I ever though a hair dryer could be. It also came at a great time in my life because styling my hair normally would take 1 hour, while the Dyson Supersonic hair drier cut that time in half. Once the new baby girl arrives, every minute will definitely count, so this is a welcome treat for myself and my mom (I promised we could share since she’s in a constant battle with her hair as well). I figured since I’m the one who normally styles her hair, why not put her to work and show you guys the new new Hair Dryer results!
The new Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer has 3 precise speed settings easily changed with a slight push of a button. Fast drying, regular drying, and styling. The 4 heat settings: constant cold (great for shine), low, medium, and high. My mom and I both gave it a try on high and fast drying and it does exactly what it’s meant to! I blow dried my moms hair straight in less than 10 minutes! Dyson Supersonic™ styling concentrator shoots focused air that lets you style one section at a time which is amazing for blow outs because it won’t disturb the rest of your hair! Another favorite which we used when her hair was damp: The Dyson smoothing nozzle. It dried her hair gently and smooth, allowing you to dry and style at the same time! I love that!
More amazing features we loved:
Helps prevent extreme heat damage to protect natural shine. Air temperature is measured 20 times every second, keeping the temperature under control.
Unlike lots of hair driers, Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer is lightweight and balanced. Dyson turned convention on its head and put the motor in the handle (genius). Completely rebalancing the drier’s weight and shape.
Magnetic attachments. Only the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer comes with magnetic attachments – so you can adjust quickly and easily.
Dyson diffuser. This attachment will be heavily used during the summer where it’s too hot to straighten my hair. It’s engineered to disperse air evenly around each of your hair waves and/or curls. It also simulates natural drying to help reduce frizz and improve definition.
Acoustically tuned. The powerful motor is tuned to produce one inaudible frequency, and it’s enveloped by a vibration reduction system. This was a feature my mom loved because she wears a hearing aid and it is super sentive to noise. As for me, I was just happy that my obnoxiously loud hair drier will no longer scare the kids away! Joseph even let me dry his curly hair!
Last, but certainly not least, we both immediately loved the sleek, modern style the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer has. I’m so excited to put this baby to some good use this summer when I’m in a hurry. I know it will be a game changer in how me and my mom both wash and style our hair.
