Tag Archives: summer time

I know it may seem that I say this all the time, but man have I been busy! Being consciously aware of every little thing going on is super important because I feel like time is just flying by. In just a few weeks, William will be senior in high school, Dylan’s entering his first year in high school, Robert’s starting middle school, and Olivia will be almost 6 months! Summer feels like it just started and school registration is in two weeks! Down here in Florida, school ends and starts a little bit earlier, which always bums the kids out because everyone else is still enjoying their Summer break while they’re starting to get homework.

Me: Not much is new with me, just working and trying to make more of an effort and giving myself the time I need to workout and put together some outfits. This Minnie Mouse tee isn’t really what I had in mind, but it is extremely soft and makes me smile. Also, Joseph absolutely loves it when I wear it!

At The Moment

Joseph is able to have full blown conversations with us now and it’s hilarious! He loves watching Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol and, just recently, Spider-Man.

The past couple of weeks we’ve been dealing with Olivia’s eczema. I hate to see her all itchy and fussy but thankfully we figured out it was her formula and as soon as it switched she got better. Other than that, Olivia has been busy rolling over, trying to crawl and starting to eat solids.

I can’t wait for the fall. This summer has been one of the hottest we’ve ever had, it’s brutal!

Summer Learning Fun With My.Future

This post was sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of America as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.

I, like most moms, worry about the amount of time my kids spend on their their smart phones, laptops and tablets. I try to encourage them to get out once a day and break a sweat, but I’m also very aware of how important them being technically savvy is and will continue to be in the future. Just like them, I grew up in a house where a computer was introduced to me at a very young age. My dad always had the latest in electronics and pushed me to learn the ins and outs of a computer (and later on coding, which has helped with both of my websites). My oldest, who can now easily put together a computer, has been navigating a desktop since he was three and now actively holds a job in the technological field. So when I say I get the importance of it I really do mean it and I’m actively witnessing it.

By 2018, jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are expected to grow twice as fast as any other types of jobs in the U.S. and the skills that my kids are acquiring while using electronics will be needed to compete in the global economy. The Boys & Girls Club of America, a leader in out-of-school learning for more than 150 years has created a new platform called My.Future that helps foster these very skills. Kids and teens who use My.Future can explore the topics that already interest them all while discovering new ones with STEM skills. They can learn how to build a build a blog, make a mobile movie and even learn the internal components of a PC to understand their functions. As they complete a My.Future project, they can even earn badges to show their progress.

My.Future delivers programs that spark the interests of kids and teens by encouraging them to explore topics that already interest them. There’s no better way to get kids involved! After six kids and trying varies ways to help broaden their interest in science and technology I’ve learned that it’s best to follow their lead and work from there and thats exactly what My.Furture is does. Fresh From Florida Summer Recipes
One of my very favorite parts about living in Florida has always been the enormous selection of delicious fruits and vegetables available year-round. Right now we’ve got oranges and lemon trees right in our backyard and it’s just a delight to send the kids back there to pick them for fresh homemade orange juice or lemonade. I love to recreate recipes that have that fresh, homemade taste as well, so that’s why I’m so excited to be teaming up with Fresh From Florida and Florida Department of Agriculture and show you guys the variety of seasonally grown foods that are perfect for any summertime recipe.
