Ingredients

  • 1/2 Onion chopped
  • 1 cup Celery chopped
  • 1/2 cup Carrots chopped
  • 2 cups Turnips peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup Dill Pickles finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Dill Pickle Juice
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream `
  • 5 cups Chicken Broth
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 1 pinch Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 bunch Fresh Dill for garnish
  • Chopped Bacon Pieces for garnish

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a pot over medium heat.
  • Add in the onions, celery, carrots and turnips, and saute until beginning to soften.
  • Add in the dill pickles, pickle juice, chicken broth, salt and pepper to taste and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine well.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Stir in the sour cream, and simmer for another 5 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with bacon pieces and fresh dill.
