I’m always asked what it’s like to work from home with three under 4, so I thought I’d share a little behind the scenes look. Despite what many might think, working at home is not easy. However, it’s totally doable if you keep your reasons why you chose to do it in check. Scroll down for a day in my life as a work at home mom.
A Day In A Life Of A Work at Home Mom
I worked in fashion retail for many years, and the only reason I walked away from it was to be home with my four older boys. This whole blogging thing was supposed to be for fun. I never expected it to become a full-time job, but when it came to it, I had to push hard, work long hours, and made this a full-time gig. Thankfully, I had the support I needed around me to make it a realization.
Fast forward a few years, and now I’m a mom of seven that works full-time from home with my three little ones. Is working from home with three kids under four hard? You bet! But being a mom in general is hard! Working from home as a parent isn’t for everyone, but if you have the support and opportunity to choose to do so, it can be very fulfilling.
Below are a few things I’ve learned along the way.

A big pro of working at home is that you don’t have to pay for daycare and you get to be with your kids. The key to getting anything done is to be efficient with your time, prioritize tasks, and more importantly, learn to say no. There are plenty of times where I’m typing up a storm, on a conference call, or paying bills while the kids eat their breakfast or play with their toys. It’s the quietest time of my day and I make sure to use that time well. Find those moments in your day and make the most of them!
The lines of being a wife, a mom, and someone who works, will get blurred. Once I realized that I felt the same way when I worked outside of the home, I learned to just ignore it and keep pushing forward. I no longer allow myself time to feel guilty for working hard.
Always being prepared (easier said than done, I know) is crucial when you’re a work at home mom. Nothing will kill your work day faster than having to run out with all the kids because you forgot diapers, wipes or your coffee! Make a list and check it twice!

Sitting at my desk for long hours and then running around with the kids often times leaves me with an achy back and sore muscles. I try to put my whole self into each day and I’m not going to let back and muscle pains sideline me.
I keep Aleve Back & Muscle Pain (100CT) handy because it offers all day pain relief to help me overcome tough pain and never back down! Scroll down for info on a money saving rebate and an awesome sweepstakes.
Aleve Back & Muscle Pain is now available at Walmart. Only Aleve offers up to 12 hours of pain relief in just 1 pill*. All Day Strong, All Day long. *Among leading OTC brands, based on minimum labeled dosing. Use as directed.
Another major lesson I learned the hard way is that I can do anything, but not everything. The house won’t always be clean, laundry might pile up and dinner will most likely be late again, but that’s ok. There’s so much more I could say on being a work at home mom, like finding time for yourself, spending time with the kids, and scheduling some time out of the house. Check back and I’ll make sure to post about that later on. Hope this helps!
