How To Make The Best Low-Carb Side Dish
This recipe is incredibly easy to make. It’s as simple as mixing the ingredients, roll the dough and shape it and bake it. Done!
Ok, there’s a bit more to it, but not much! Keep reading – the entire recipe is at the bottom of the post. First, I’m going to share some relevant notes and tips for the recipe.
What’s In Almond Flour Garlic Knots
Here’s what I used in my garlic knots, along with any substitutions you can make.
- Mozzarella Cheese – It needs to be shredded, so I bought a bag of shredded cheese. This is the best type of cheese for the garlic knots.
- Almond Flour – Use blanched almond flour, not almond meal. If you use almond meal, the garlic knots will turn out with a grainy texture.
- Cream Cheese – You can substitute with farmer’s cheese, but cream cheese turns out the best.
- Egg
- Garlic Powder – If you use garlic salt instead, cut out the added salt.
- Italian Seasoning
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Nonstick Oil
Fathead Dough Garlic Knots
Fathead dough is a dough made with shredded mozzarella cheese – and that’s exactly what I used in my recipe. Surprisingly, they don’t taste like cheese. They turn out tasting like the garlic knots you’d get at your favorite pizza place.
It’s pretty surprising how amazing the similarity is to classic garlic knots. They taste just as good as I remember!
These make a fantastic holiday side dish too! So if you have a holiday coming up, add this recipe to your food planning Pinterest board. It’s delightfully low-carb and feeds a crowd with minimal effort.
Tips For Easy Prep
If you want to save time on making the garlic knots, make the dough and roll out the knots ahead of time. Then, store the uncooked knots in a sealed container in your refrigerator until you can bake them.
Of course, they also stay fresh in your refrigerator for up to a week. So make them on your day off and eat them throughout the week.
How To Store Them
Since there is dairy in them, I suggest storing the cooked garlic knots in the refrigerator in a sealed bag or container. They will stay fresh for up to a week (that is if you even have leftovers!).
