Back before I started blogging the word Photoshop gave me the chills. It initimidated me and I always felt that it was a program only suitable for professional photographers. I was SO wrong! Yes, there’s a learning curve, and yes, it will take some time to master all the amazing features and tools, but Adobe PhotoShop Elements has now made it so that even a casual picture-taker or those just getting started can easily organize, edit, and share their photos and videos.
When you first boot up the software, which only take s a few minutes to download, you can pick to upload a picture to edit or start importing and organizing your photos, which makes it super easy to access and edit later on if you choose.
Initially, the photos will be saved by date and if you’re like me and have a billion pictures, then this will be a lifesaver, but they also let you organize them in categories of people, events, and places. Under the people category you can name specific faces and creates groups. For example, I created a blogging event and named the faces of my blogging buddies. With the places category, you can view exactly where the photo was taken. This definitely beats my system, where I keep everything on my phone and camera until it says I have no space. Don’t judge, you know it happens to you too.
Organization is definitely important, but now on to the fun stuff:editing! One the best edit features is the ability to remove the camera shake. You know that one picture that you love but is a little off because you couldn’t keep your hand steady? Yeah, it fixes that! All you have to do is click to remove the shake.
Another amazing feature is the healing brush where you can easily remove an unwanted object without disturbing the rest of the picture. Simply paint over the unwanted object and poof! It’s gone!
Heres a picture of my husband at the Sunflower Ranch earlier this year. I love the selfie, but he thought it was girlie and never used it as a profile picture, like it was intended for. I wanted to have a little fun with it so I removed the background using the eraser tool and then I used the Move Tool to drag his selfie into a photo of the exact street I grew up on in Brooklyn back in the 80s as a background. Pretty cool, huh!?
I then took it and played around with the colors to blend them together a little better. It’s not perfect but I’ve only done this type of editing a few times.
I also took one of my own selfies that was too bright and gave it a black and white look using one of the 2500 different effects that’s available.
I could go on and on with the new tools and edits… Did I mention that you can even share videos that you edit right to Youtube, Facebok, or Vimeo!? It’s pretty amazing you’ve, got to try it out and see for yourself.
With the holidays right around the corner, the Adobe Photoshop Elements would make the perfect gift for anyone! Gift it to the new mom who’s constantly snapping pics of her baby, someone who loves photography, or for yourself to make your own Christmas cards. You can even edit some pictures to frame and give as gifts.
The Adobe Photoshop Elements is now available at Best Buy

I’ve never played with Photoshop. To be honest, it scares me a little. Blending photos sounds like fun, though!!

I stress about getting the photo perfect, but that’s near impossible if you’re photographing children. Having photoshop makes it so much less stressful.

I have Photoshop Elements 2 so you can see how far behind my software is. It certainly does a lot more in 14 than I can do!
