This is how to make the best keto gingerbread donut recipe just in time for the winter! The glaze is optional, but it is all keto-friendly!
One of the most iconic flavors of Christmas and winter holidays is gingerbread. It’s what kids make little houses out of and it’s the theme of winter Starbucks drinks. This flavor has a combination of earthy ginger, cinnamon, and aromatic nutmeg and cloves. When you bake these donuts, your house is going to smell like Christmas morning!
Keto Gingerbread Donuts With Sugar-Free Glaze
Don’t be intimidated by the long list of ingredients. This Keto Gingerbread Donut Recipe is a really simple recipe that anyone can make. Since it is gluten-free, you don’t have to wait for anything to rise or worry about getting the yeast just right.
Easy Keto Donut
What do you serve on lazy, cold, winter mornings? Donuts aren’t off-limits on keto as long as you make them with all low-carb ingredients. These donuts taste so delicious you will swear you are cheating – but you aren’t.
They are so easy to make that you’ll be able to make them multiple times during the week or even make a double batch all at once.
How To Freeze Keto Donuts
Make a really large batch of donuts, let them cool, and then store them in the freezer. They will last about 6 months in the freezer. Here’s how to freeze them the right way so that they don’t freeze together into a large lump.
- Let the donuts cool completely – do not add the glaze.
- Lay them out in a single layer on a cooled baking sheet.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer.
- Freeze the donuts for at least a few hours or even overnight.
- After they are completely frozen, you can place the donuts in a freezer-safe sealable bag.
When you are ready to reheat them, just let them thaw in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat them in the oven.
Other Ways To Use L0w-Carb Gingerbread Batter
Instead of donuts, you can use this batter to make donut holes. Another idea is to use a bread pan and make a loaf of gingerbread.
Keto Sugar-Free Glaze
I made a maple-flavored glaze because the maple tastes wonderful mixed with the delectable gingerbread.
You’ll definitely want to use this glaze on other keto baking recipes (like cinnamon rolls). Of course, you can also use a sugar-free vanilla glaze instead or add some of this Keto Cream Cheese Frosting.
If you want to save even more time, just skip the glaze! The glaze is completely optional. I think it adds more flavor depth to the donuts, but they will still taste amazing!
Is Molasses Keto-Friendly?
No, molasses is not keto-friendly. I used it in this recipe because I used such a small amount (2 tablespoons) that it didn’t affect each individual donut macros all that much. If you want, you can easily substitute sugar-free maple syrup for the molasses.
