Keto Honey Walnut Shrimp
After you make this sweet shrimp recipe, you’ll begin to crave it over and over again. It’s just incredible how perfectly the nutty and salty walnuts, juicy shrimp, and sweet honey sauce all go together.
Plus, I even included a recipe for candied walnuts in the recipe card! You can make extra keto candied walnuts and sprinkle them on your chopped salad later. Or just snack on them when you are craving something sweet.
Best Keto Honey
For the dressing, I combined some mayo with sugar-free honey and heavy whipping cream. There are two types of keto honey that I prefer – Wholesome Yum keto honey and Nature’s Hollow keto honey. Both types have an authentic honey flavor and sticky consistency.
By the way, if you really enjoy the combination of keto honey and shrimp, then try keto honey Old Bay shrimp next. It’s slightly spicy with an irresistibly sweet flavor.
What To Eat With Honey Walnut Shrimp
Remember to pair sweet recipes with something savory or salty for the best combinations. That’s why I like to serve this shrimp with my favorite Chinese recipes. Start out with a bowl of keto naked wonton soup.
Then add some keto cauliflower fried rice on the side. If you are a fan of noodles, then make some zoodle lo mein with it.
Tips For Cooking Shrimp
Shrimp is really simple seafood to cook. I have a few tips that will give you the best results when you make this keto honey walnut shrimp.
First, never use the microwave to thaw your frozen shrimp. Place them in a calendar in the refrigerator overnight or put the frozen shrimp in a sealed bag and run cold water over the bag until they thaw.
Don’t use warm or hot water because the shrimp might soak up the water and become soggy.
Next, buy deveined shrimp. It’s worth the higher price to avoid doing this job. Deveining is very important because it involves removing the shrimp’s gut which might contain sand or mud.
Finally, be careful not to overcook the shrimp. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. It only needs to be cooked to 120F.
How Long Does Cooked Shrimp Last In The Fridge
This cooked shrimp recipe will stay fresh in the refrigerator for about three or four days. Remember to store it in an airtight food storage container. This is a perfect meal prep recipe, especially if you add some cauliflower fried rice to your meal.
The candied walnuts will stay fresh at room temperature for about a week – but I’m sure they will disappear long before then!
