Turn the viral keto onion rings into a slightly-spicy pizza. This onion ring pizza is made without any flour and has tons of flavor.
Onion Ring Pizza
This easy keto pizza recipe was directly inspired by my low-carb healthy onion rings. They always turn out crispy and are so easy to use with dips (and taste incredible on their own).
Then, I had a thought! Since they’re so crispy, they might be the perfect base for a keto pizza!
So, I gave it a try and the result was perfect on the first shot!
If you love crispy foods and thin crust pizza is your favorite kind, then you’re going to love this pizza! The texture is easy to get right and the entire recipe is ready in 30 minutes.
Keep reading and I’ll share some of my favorite ways to change this recipe up and how to add it to your weekly meal prep (or speed up the cooking process).
Keto Onion Pizza
This low-carb pizza is made without any flour! The entire base is made with just an onion and two types of cheese – mozzarella and parmesan.
After those three ingredients bake in the oven, the cheese melts. Then, as it cools, they become deliciously crispy again.
What is the best type of onion and cheese to use in the pizza? For the onion, I suggest using white or yellow.
The red onions are extremely aromatic and could even overpower all the other flavors. For the cheese, use mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
You could use cheddar instead of mozzarella, but don’t skip the parmesan. It gives the pizza crust a slight nuttiness that rounds out the sweetness from the onions and other type of cheese.
Keto Pizza
This is the perfect thing to add to your weekly meal prep! These onion ring pizzas taste delicious cold (in my opinion).
If you want to eat them warm, then I suggest heating them up in the oven or air fryer. If you microwave them, the cheese will melt and the texture will be all wrong.
Jalapeno Pizza
This pizza is made without any marinara or pizza sauce. That’s how I kept it deliciously crispy.
The sauce would have prevented the cheese and onions from crisping up. But if you like pizza sauce, then use it as a dip or drizzle a little bit on top right before you eat.
What are your favorite pizza toppings? You can add them to the onion rings pizza too.
I used sliced jalapenos and pepperoni. Other choices that will taste good (and keep you in ketosis) include:
- Olives
- Banana Peppers
- Tomatoes
- Thinly sliced mini bell peppers
What To Eat With Pizza
These handheld pizzas are perfect for lunch or a fun little dinner. Since they taste like pizza, serve them with your favorite pizza sides.
You can never go wrong with some buttery keto breadsticks or garlic knots.
Don’t forget the fresh Olive Garden Copycat Salad – with plenty of parmesan cheese! The dressing is a near-perfect replica. Serve with a glass of keto-friendly Sweet Tea. Lunch is ready!
