Learn how to make keto churros in no time at all. This recipe uses a combination of almond flour and coconut flour for crispy churros!
If I had to pick my favorite dessert of all time, it would have to be a churro. There is nothing to hate about the crispy pastries covered in cinnamon and sugar. I finally found a way to make them low-carb! So now I can actually eat churros on the keto diet. I can’t wait to share this recipe with you too.
Keto Churros
These churros don’t just look like the real thing, they taste like them too. I was able to combine almond flour and coconut flour in the perfect ratio to create the crispy and flaky churros that remind me of my favorite street food.
My favorite granular keto sweetener for churros is a blend with erythritol. I think it has the least amount of aftertaste and blends the best with the cinnamon.
Best Keto Churros
If you have kids, make a double batch. These churros are so kid-friendly that they won’t be able to tell they are sugar-free and gluten-free. When you make extras, you don’t have to refrigerate them.
Store keto churros in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
These are perfect for parties. Make a huge plate of them and set them out. Hide some for yourself, because they will be devoured in no time at all. In fact, these churros are so pretty, that they are perfect for special occasions too.
I can see them being served at a bridal or baby shower.
Healthy Churros Recipe
Since the main ingredients in these churros is almond flour and coconut flour, they are a good source of healthy fats and protein. I hesitate to say you should eat them as a lunch without anything else. Yes, these churros are healthy, but you still need more protein and fiber.
I would enjoy these churros as a snack or a sweet dessert after a meal.
If you want to eat them as part of your lunch, serve a meat and veggie-packed salad like BLT chicken salad in a lettuce wrap. This way you will keep your macros balanced with plenty of veggies and protein, just like your body needs.
Grain-Free Churros
Even if you aren’t on the keto diet, I think these are the best gluten-free and grain-free churros I have ever made. If you aren’t watching your carbs, you can use 1 cup of any gluten-free flour you like.
There are lots of ways that you can serve these churros and all of them are low in carbs and high in flavor!
Dip them in low-carb or sugar-free caramel dip or chocolate sauce. I can also see them tasting out of the world if you drizzle them with some sugar-free chocolate sauce.
You can also serve these churros with ice cream or a no-bake cheesecake. Think of ways that you like to eat churros and eat these that way. The options are limitless.
