When you really want to treat yourself or make a luxurious dinner for you and your partner/best friend, then this Keto Garlic Butter Steak With Zucchini recipe is a must!
It’s crazy how easy it is to make this Keto Garlic Butter Steak With Zucchini because it tastes just like something from a fancy steakhouse.
Keto Steak Seasoning
What sets this recipe apart from other steak recipes is the seasoning. Trust me and use fresh sprigs of rosemary.
They are so fragrant and when you heat the fresh herbs with the garlic in the pan, it will infuse the steaks with even more flavor than the dried herbs ever could.
You don’t need a huge list of spices when you make steak. In fact, the fewer that you use, the more the natural flavor of the steak and butter will stand out!
Easy Garlic Butter Recipe
Garlic butter is quite simply just garlic and butter. I personally like to use unsalted butter so that I can control how salty the recipe is. To make the best garlic butter, just combine a little bit of minced garlic with some butter.
My exact recipe is in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post, but it really is that easy.
Skillet Steak Recipe
For this recipe, I made the steak in a cast-iron skillet. I personally prefer to make steak on the skillet because it sits in the garlic butter and herbs and its own juices as it cooks. I think this really adds more flavor to the steak.
Other healthy ways to make a steak is on either an indoor or outdoor grill. When you grill the steak, the juices drip away from it. Pay close attention to the steak when you cook it this way. If you overcook a steak on the grill, it will make them too dry.
Keto NY Strip Steak
NY strip steak is a really easy romantic dinner for two. For a fun twist, swap the zucchini for asparagus or even green beans. I like to serve this with a side salad or even mushroom cauliflower rice.
Another fun idea is to cut up the steak and toss it with the zoodles or over a salad. Now you have a healthy lunch!
If you have leftover steak, or you are making this ahead for a meal-prep, store it in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Steak tends to toughen when it is refrigerated so cut it up before you store it.
Steak Tenderizing Tips
If you notice that your steak isn’t tender enough, try these tips. They always worked for me.
- Tenderize the meat with a mallet. This means you literally hit it with a mallet to break up the fibers in the meat. This helps it cook in a way that makes it a lot more tender.
- Salt the meat. Salt actually draws out moisture and creates a natural brine.
- Let it come to room temperature before you cook it. Let your steak sit on the counter for 30 minutes before you cook it. This will help it cook more evenly, which will keep it tender.
