Wrap up some hot dogs and make them look spooky! These keto mummy dogs are fun for kids and adults this Halloween.
Keto Halloween Recipe
One of the best parts of fall is Halloween and all the childish celebrations that go with it. I still enjoy dressing up and making themed foods. I wish we could celebrate Halloween all month long!
If you’re a fan of Halloween, too, then you will really enjoy this recipe. All you have to do is make a simple fathead dough out of mozzarella cheese, almond flour, cream cheese, and baking powder. Then, wrap the strips of dough around the hot dogs.
This is a fun recipe to let your kids make. They can wrap their own hot dogs and make them look as silly as they want!
Keto Mummy Dogs
This is a fantastic recipe for anyone that is gluten-sensitive or intolerant. These mummy dogs aren’t just keto-friendly; they are gluten-free too. That’s why they are perfect to serve at Halloween parties.
They are an allergen-friendly food to serve when you don’t know if anyone has any food allergies.
You can make these up to a day ahead of time. Store the pre-made mummy dogs in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator. Don’t keep them longer than a day or else the mummy wrappings will begin to soften too much.
Reheat them in the oven to keep them crispy and delicious.
Are Hot Dogs Keto
Always look at the ingredients on the hot dogs before you buy them. Don’t use any hot dogs that contain high fructose corn syrup or other sugars in them. Most hot dogs are made with just meat, but it’s always a good idea to check.
Most hot dogs contain 3 grams net carbs. That’s enough to keep you in ketosis. According to my rough calculations, there are 4 grams net carbs in each mummy hot dog.
What To Eat With Hot Dogs
These keto mummy dogs are a party food, so serve them with other keto-friendly foods like this Keto Spider Web Dip. Add these coconut keto clusters they are perfect for the dessert table. They are high-fat and low-carb.
Low-carb keto cowboy caviar is a fun and high-fiber dip. Serve it with some keto-friendly crackers or raw veggies. Keto air fryer fritters are another finger-food that you’ll enjoy serving at parties. For a bit of crunch, add some keto fried pickles with cheese to the table.
They are fun to eat with the mummy dogs.
Keto Kids Lunch
These are really fun to add to your kiddo’s school lunch. Add a little cup of sugar-free ketchup for them to use as a dip. Even if they cool down, they are still delicious.
I love to serve them to my kids on the weekends when they are home. I give them a bowl of fruit too since I don’t count carbs for them.
Want an alternative to hot dogs? Make a chicken finger mummy – wrap the dough around your favorite fully-cooked chicken fingers. Or wrap the dough around zucchini strips. Then your mummy will look green – like Frankenstein’s monster!
