Fun Halloween Snack Idea
Do you like to make themed food and snacks for Halloween? I sure do! It’s so fun to play around with funny and spooky ideas. That’s why I had so much fun making keto ghostly cheesecake bites. And this eyeballs snack is just as fun too!
These fake little eyeballs are basically everything I love about Halloween. They have the creepy and icky factor down! But you know they are just mozzarella balls, so as you eat them, it makes everyone laugh.
Whether you are hosting a Halloween party, attending one, or just want something fun to make while you hand out candy, these little spooky snacks are the best thing ever!
The Best Spooky Halloween Snacks
The sauce on the mozzarella is what gives them the real-life texture. It’s a marinade that combines soy sauce and pesto to make it look and feel quite slimy. Thankfully, the salty and umami soy sauce flavors pair really well with the sweet basil.
Here’s another idea. If you are going to set them out during a Halloween party, place them on a tray and drizzle the marinade on top of them so that they are dripping in the slimy stuff. This makes them a lot more fun to eat.
Funny Halloween Mozzarella Eyes
The olives are what make the cheese balls look like eyes. Even if you don’t like how olives taste, use them. Without the olives, they won’t look very much like eyes.
If you are going to serve these to kiddos, then use toothpicks to stab them and pick them up. That will make the little ones roll with laughter! Plus, it is easier to eat when they are on toothpicks too.
Halloween Party Food
You can even make these ahead of time and snack on them throughout the week. Put all the mozzarella balls in a jar with a lid and then it is ready whenever you want one.
These fun little snacks will stay fresh for about a week in the refrigerator.
Here are 20 more homemade Halloween treats for kids. Most of the things on that list are not keto-friendly, but they are definitely fun for the kiddos!
Keto Halloween Appetizers
I used fresh mozzarella and cut it into bite size pieces. If you want to save yourself time, just buy some hardboiled eggs and then place them in a jar with the rest of the ingredients.
The “eyeballs” will be a bit larger than if you used mozzarella balls, but it saves you tons of time.
Set these salty snacks out with my sweet low-carb candy corn cheesecake shooters. Then you’ll have both salty and sweet at the same table!
Marinated Mozzarella Balls
The shape and size of the mozzarella eyeballs aren’t super important – just have fun with them! If you really want them to have a round shape, then I suggest using a melon baller to cut a large piece of mozzarella.
This way you can scoop round pieces of cheese out of fresh mozzarella.
