These keto loaded oven-roasted radishes are the perfect thing to replace potatoes as a healthy side dish – and kids love them too!
I love creating new recipes for my family that I can eat too. It’s so much easier to stay on track with ketosis when we are all eating most of the same foods together.
Food is a very social thing for me, and when my family loves the food I eat, it makes it a lot more enjoyable!
Loaded Radishes
This is one of the most flavorful side dishes you will make! It’s packed with all kinds of flavor. From the spice of the jalapeno to the salty crunch of the bacon, these radishes don’t even taste like radishes.
It’s kind of amazing.
Here’s what I used in my loaded radishes (ingredient amounts are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post).
- Fresh radishes
- Oil
- Salt and Pepper
- Bacon
- Cheddar Cheese
- Jalapeno
- Green Onions
- Keto ranch dressing
For the Keto ranch dressing – read all the labels. Primal Kitchen and Tessamae’s are two brands that make low-carb ranch dressing.
Make sure the dressing you use doesn’t have any added sugar in it. Of course, you can always make your own, too!
Low Carb Potato Substitute
One thing I miss on the keto diet is potatoes. Thankfully, radishes have the same texture as potatoes, so they are a healthy potato alternative.
In fact, if you load them up with all sorts of different toppings, kids won’t even know they aren’t potatoes.
This is one of those low-carb side dishes that you can take to a family holiday dinner and everyone will enjoy it. It tastes just like a loaded baked potato dish – but without all the carbs.
Keto Radish Recipes
There are lots of creative ways you can use radishes in low-carb recipes, this just happens to be a really easy one. Radishes only have 0.2g carbs in each bulb. You can eat a lot of radishes and still stay within your macros.
Change this recipe up! Top it with some fresh jalapenos, add some hot sauce, or change the cheese.
In fact, try to add some cheddar jack cheese – it has a nice bite to it!
Radish Recipe Ideas
You can also make a really big batch of these loaded radishes and use them for meal prep throughout the week.
Store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container – they will last about 5 days.
I do not recommend freezing it, but it’s definitely possible. (I just don’t like how it changes the texture when it thaws and you reheat it).
If you want to freeze it, store it in a freezer-safe container or zippered freezer bag. It will last about 3 months in the freezer.
Try this – top the loaded radishes with a fried egg. It’s a delicious breakfast idea that will keep you full until lunch!
