We’ve lived about 15-20 minutes away from the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks for over 11 years and it wasn’t until this weekend that we actually got out there to really explore it. It turned into our first staycation that was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. We’re hoping to be able to do this a few times a year. When you have little ones you have to find creative ways to have fun and be able to bring them along!
Our First Staycation
We went on a sunset cruise that takes you to a little island where you can collect shells and watch the sunset.

A pretty rainbow!

The storm rolling in while on the little island.

While on the cruise we got a gorgeous view of the sunset!

Did a little window shopping. I thought that most stores were for souvenirs but they actually had a few stores that carried cool jewelry and some pretty dresses.

Indulged in some authentic greek food at a little restaurant called Mykonons. Joseph was more interested in running up and down the stairs (wish I had that type of energy lol).

Have you ever had a staycation? I actually loved the convenience of being able to come home every night instead of renting a hotel. Next up: We’re actually headed right back to Tarpon Springs for their Hippie Fest in August.

it’s very easy to do a staycation in my state. There are so many wonderful venues wherever you turn. Seems like you discovered the same.
We’ve had our share of stay cation and every time we are amazed by how much we actually enjoy it.
Awesome share! I have a staycation planned this weekend to the water park. Follow me – I will share my next Monday!
I live 20 minutes away from the beach and I could totally use a staycation right now!!
Looks like fun! We had our first staycation last year and the kids had a blast!
That sunset cruise sounds AWESOME! And I love your photo of the coming storm! Perfect staycation, I’d say!
No wonder you had a staycation! That is simply beautiful. The shell made me miss living in South Carolina. What a beautiful part of Florida to be in.
This looks like an amazing place to experience and I think my favorite part would be the food!
