This keto mascarpone mousse recipe is a simple and patriotic dessert that is also low in carbs. It’s no-bake and perfect for picnics.
What is Mascarpone?
Mascarpone is Italian. It’s a really soft cheese that looks and feels a lot like cream cheese, but they are not the same thing. You see, cream cheese in America is firmer and tastes brighter. Italian mascarpone has a looser texture – it’s almost velvety.
It also has a very rich mouthfeel – like a double-crème brie. Oh, and one more big difference – cream cheese has 55% butterfat and mascarpone has 75% butterfat!
I used it in my dessert because it is so creamy and rich. You don’t need to sweeten it very much.
Fourth of July Keto Desserts
I love Independence Day! It’s a time for going outside in the sunshine and enjoying the long summer nights with my family. Being on the keto diet, I wanted to create a fun dessert that I can enjoy with everyone else.
This mascarpone mousse is so rich and it’s a no-bake dessert. That means I don’t have to use my oven on hot summer days! Talk about a win!
You’ll also love how refreshing it is to bite into it on hot nights. It’s so refreshing and everyone is going to want some.
Sugar-Free Mascarpone Dessert
Another thing I love about this dessert is that it is ready in just 20 minutes. That means it is the best last-minute dessert idea you can make. And trust me – use mascarpone. I’m sure you could use cream cheese as a substitute last minute, but it won’t have the same mouthfeel or rich taste.
This mousse is so delicious that you won’t believe it is sugar-free.
Red White and Blue Treats
This mousse really dresses up the dessert table! I’ve seen some red, white, and blue fruit treats and even patriotic puddings. This mousse is served in small handy shoots, so it is perfect for on-the-go eating and outdoor picnics.
Food coloring is optional, but it really dresses up the mousse.
Keto Party Treats
This is one of my favorite patriotic keto party treats. It’s kid-friendly too – especially if you serve it in shooters. If you are making it for your family, you might want to double the recipe.
It’s fun to jazz it up with optional toppings too. Some of my favorite ideas for mousse toppings are:
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Whipped Cream
- Sugar-Free Chocolate Shavings
- Strawberry Slices
Just keep in mind that every piece of fruit you add will increase the carb counts. This is important if you are trying to watch your macros.
