Use this easy low carb eggnog recipe to enjoy the holiday drink on the keto diet! This recipe includes an eggless version too.
One of the most iconic drinks of winter is eggnog. It was even featured in the movie Christmas Vacation.
Typical eggnog is packed with sugar! I knew I had to make a low-carb version. If you are allergic to eggs, I’m also including tips for making an egg-free keto eggnog recipe.
Does Eggnog Have Raw Eggs In It?
Historically, homemade egg nog recipes used to have raw eggs in them. Store-bought eggnog is made from eggs that were pasteurized. While they weren’t exactly cooked, they were treated with heat to kill or reduce harmful microorganisms (like salmonella).
For my recipe, I cooked the eggs on the stove. It’s a warm and creamy drink with all the flavors of winter parties!
Best Low Carb Eggnog Recipe
What is it about eggnog that you love the most? Is it the creaminess? Maybe it’s the combination of the spices in the drink. Every time I pour myself a glass of eggnog, it just feels like Christmas! Don’t you agree?
This recipe has all the classic eggnog flavors.
It’s made with cinnamon and Stevia and tastes so creamy. You can add a dash of cloves if you want it to have a little more spice.
Sugar-Free Eggnog
There are literally just 3 ingredients in this eggnog. Here is what I used and it turned out with the same thick and creamy texture that you will love.
- Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- Eggs
- Stevia (or sugar substitute)
Then you can add some sugar-free whipped topping and cinnamon after you pour it in your cup.
How To Make Eggless Eggnog
The eggs are what makes this drink creamy. So if you need to make an eggless version, you need to use something that will make it just as creamy. The best substitute is vanilla pudding mix. On the low-carb diet, you need to use a packet of sugar-free vanilla pudding mix. All the other ingredients will stay the same.
Festive Holiday Drinks
Eggnog is one of my favorite festive holiday drinks! You can certainly make this ahead of time. It should last about 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Another festive holiday drink you might enjoy is a homemade maple latte. This tastes a lot like the Starbucks Gingerbread latte! You also can’t go wrong with a keto peppermint mocha. I love a hot chocolate drink, don’t you?
Non-Alcoholic Eggnog
This recipe is so easy to make. Just heat up all the ingredients and mix them together. I didn’t add any alcohol to it, so kids can enjoy this drink right along with you. If you want to add some alcohol, the best one is a bit of rum.
You can also use this as an ingredient in other eggnog dessert recipes too.
