What Is Mummy Toast
Looking just like a cute little mummy, this toast is a fun addition to your keto lunch or Halloween party! In fact, they are so fun to make, that you can have a mummy toast-making party!
Mummy toast is basically toasted bread topped with marinara sauce and uses mozzarella cheese strips as the mummy bandages and olives as the eyeballs.
You can make them as low-carb or not as you want. To keep the carbs lower, use keto-friendly, high-fiber bread and low-carb marinara sauce. If you follow my recipe, there are just 3 grams net carbs in each piece.
Pizza Toast
There are a lot of different ways you could change up this pizza toast! My recipe is incredibly basic and only involves some toast, sauce, and cheese.
Here are a few ways you could change this recipe up. Use a different type of bread. My keto-friendly bread is really thin, but you could use a thicker keto bun or roll.
If you like lots of spice, then add some red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce. And if you really want to be different, use cream cheese or ricotta cheese instead of marinara sauce, and thinly-sliced cucumber ribbons instead of mozzarella cheese.
Keto Mummy Toast
What spices do you like to add to marinara sauce? Depending on the brand of sauce you use, it might need a little bit of shaking up! I like to add the big Italian three – parsley, basil, and oregano.
Should you toast the bread before you add the marinara sauce? Yes, you definitely want to toast your bread before adding the sauce and building the mummy. It’s nearly impossible to toast the bread after the sauce is on it.
Mummy Pizza Toast
This recipe literally takes about 10 minutes to make, so I don’t recommend trying to save the leftovers or making it ahead. In fact, if you try to store leftovers in the fridge, the sauce will soften the toast and it won’t be nearly as crispy.
If you are really crunched on time and need to speed up the process, here are a few shortcuts you can take. Place the bread in the toaster. While it is heating up, warm the marinara sauce in the microwave. Then, all you have to do is add the sauce and cheese strips! You don’t even have to melt the cheese unless you want to.

Halloween and spooky season are really fun times of year that have some tasty and creative recipes! Serve this mummy toast with a Keto Mini Pumpkin Cheese Ball. It looks just like a tiny pumpkin, but it’s a ball of cheese!
