Yes, pesto is a very keto-friendly sauce or condiment. You can easily make your own out of basil, avocado oil, hard grated cheese, pine nuts, and garlic. If you buy it from the store, read all the labels. Some premade pesto might have sugar in it.

The most popular type of pesto is Rao’s homemade. It has 3 grams net carbs in 1/4 a cup. This recipe only uses 2 tablespoons, so it doesn’t increase the carb amounts very much at all.

Pesto eggs aren’t usually dairy-free since it is used with different types of hard cheese. I used goat cheese on my toast to add a creamy texture and delicious flavor. If you make your own dairy-free pesto, then this entire recipe is easily dairy-free!

There are only 5 grams of net carbs in each serving. This is an incredibly delicious and filling breakfast. Since it is so easy to make, you can also enjoy it for lunch. This would taste delicious with a low-carb pesto chicken salad on the side!

I used goat cheese because of the creamy texture and tangy flavor, but you don’t have to use it. Ricotta cheese, feta, or brie will all taste delicious with the pesto eggs, and they are easy to spread on the toast too.

Cook Time: 4-5 minutes

Net Carbs: 5 net carbs per serving

Ingredients:

Keto friendly bread toasted
Goat cheese
Large eggs
Pesto sauce
Salt and pepper 

Instructions:

1. Toast the bread.

2. Add the goat cheese to the two toast slices, and smooth out evenly.

3. Heat a skillet over medium heat, and place one tablespoon of pesto sauce on each of two sides of the skillet.

4. Crack a large egg onto the pesto in the skillet, and fry until done to your liking.

5. Remove, and place on top of the toast. 
6. Add salt and pepper to taste before serving.
