So far 2014 has been a year of many many firsts! One of the biggest reasons I’ve been so busy has been because I’ve been driving Evan to and from job interviews, helping him find a job, and working on my own job with three sick kids to boot. It’s been hectic and exciting to say the least but I got through it and Evan’s got not one but two new jobs and his own car (of course I’m left with a annoying cold and plenty of time to get back to work.). Watching this all go down has been a little surreal.
I still remember the day I got my first car like it was yesterday. It was a brand new green Toyota Tercel and I worked two jobs for about two years to save up enough to buy it. I spent my entire senior year of high school riding the school bus while all the other seniors drove their own cars. After school I was snagging rides from family and friends to go to work or to go shopping – it wasn’t easy but it was so worth it! Just last week I saw the same excitement on my sons face as he drove off alone for the first time in his very own car.

Evan’s car isn’t brand new like mine was but it doesn’t have a monthly payments and it offers him the opportunity to save up for a better car down the road while he’s going to school and working (just like I did at his age). It’s the beginning of many firsts for Evan and I cant wait to see what he has in store. 🙂
