This post is in partnership with Walmart but all opinions are my own.
I have a confession to make: I never actually got around to finishing Lauren’s side of the nursery (she shares a room with her big sister, Olivia). I knew I wanted another little girl but I didn’t think I was going to be given exactly what I wanted so soon (Olivia & Lauren are only 13 months apart)! I was beyond excited that I was having another girl so I had to start from scratch again, because Olivia was still using all the baby girl stuff we bought minus the outfits she outgrew. Shopping, of course, is always fun, especially for another baby girl. Between being pregnant and working full time from home with two babies, I honestly just never got around to doing much more than adding a new crib and some of Olivia’s sheets. I’m just like any other mom; I want the cutest, trendiest items for my kids, but as a mom of seven, I have to shop within a budget and I thought I’d share a few budget friendly to decorate a nursery for two kids!
Budget Friendly Ways To Decorate a Nursery For Two Kids
Focus on details. I wish I would have known this before I had kids! When I shopped for my first-born’s nursery, I just bought whatever I liked and it left me with a nursery that had no real look to it. Now, I’m all about the detail. For Olivia and Lauren’s nursery my focus was on a faux fur rug and trendy patterns like chevron, arrows, and stripes, like the sheets from Parent’s Choice at Walmart. The two-pack crib sheet is perfect for coordinating cribs and the rug gave the nursery an expensive, luxurious feel! **You can also place one rug down in front of each crib to give kids their own space. Purchase items that you can mix and match. This is a rule that I follow for just about everything I buy, but I really focused on being able to switch things up in the nursery so that I could easily give it a new look. I chose a super cute Mix and Match bedding set (for less than $40 and it came with a blanket, a dust ruffle, and matching crib sheet) that’s also from Parents Choice line at Walmart , who’s brand new and improved line, is as good – if not better – than top brands! I love that I can also reverse it for a different look!
For those busy work days, I totally take advantage of the fact that I can shop from the Parent’s Choice line at Walmart with more than 275 products (Parent’s Choice has everything you need, from bedding to diapers, wipes, and more) any way that works for me. I picked up the items below at my local store even though I could have easily had them shipped right to my door for free too! All of the items are under $40 and the majority of the items are priced less than $13, which means I can save a few dollars and use that towards more cute outfits for the girls! Now that is a total win-win deal if you ask me!
Lastly, but definitely not least, include decorative pieces that reflect their personalities. Olivia and Lauren both love stuffed animals, so I made a DIY for a few items to give a personal touch (I made the framed teddy bear as well as the shelf above it). You can also gather some free printables that you can frame. Both options are not only budget friendly, they’re easily interchangeable too! It gives you the ability to give your nursery a new look more frequently.

It can be so expensive to decorate. It’s easy to go oveboard! I love the mix and match bedding. My boys are 15 months apart so I know about decorating 2 rooms!
