When I was told at 37 weeks that Olivia was still breech, I was shocked! The possibility of having to have a C-section became very real and something I was not mentally prepared for, even after having five kids that were not delivered via c-section. The idea of not only my recuperation taking twice as long (actually quadruple the time because I had every complication imaginable) but I was also going to be left with a scar right before the warm weather kicks into high gear. Pretty vain of me, I know, the most important thing is my baby’s health and I was relieved to know that she would soon be in my arms, but I’m not only a mom, I’m also a girl who cares about how I look and feel. It took me a while to accept the C-section actually happening. As women, we have to learn to deal with and get comfortable with the unexpected during pregnancy, but with products like Mederma® (the #1 doctor- and pharmacist-recommended brand for scars) it can help give us a little piece of mind.
I obviously ended up having a C-section and left with a very large scar (Olivia was 21 inches), but now that I’m armed with Mederma® Scar Cream Plus SPF 30 and Mederma® Advanced Scar Gel (both conveniently sold at Walmart ), which works on old and new scars resulting from injury, cuts, surgery, burns, and even acne, that can help make my scar/stretch marks less noticeable, I can relax a little. It’s hard living in Florida where it’s beach weather almost all year round and not being mentally prepared to be scarred for life, even if it was worth it because I got my little girl. But I can’t dwell. I have to move forward because I at least know that I have access to Mederma® products that are the premier scar and stretch mark treatment solutions and, more importantly, I finally got that little girl that I’ve always wanted!
I only wish someone would have given me some Mederma® products at one of my baby showers. It’s a postpartum must-have! For this occasion, I decided to DIY a cute makeup bag for my bestie and fill it with a few makeup essentials and, of course, some Mederma® Advanced Scar Gel for her impending hospital stay. The super easy tutorial is below!

No Sew DIY Makeup Bag
What you’ll Need:
Scissors
Duct Tape
Self Adhesive Velcro
Fabric scraps
Ruler
Stapler
How To:
Start out by measuring the fabric according to the length you want your bag. Leave marks to show the measurements.
Cut along your markings.
Duct tape the entire non-printed side of the fabric.
Staple the two short ends and one long end.
Duct tape the staples so no one gets nicked.
Add the velcro strips to the inside top of bag and then turn bag right side out and add your adornment!
You can also trim with adhesive trimming, add a brooch, or leave as is, but since I was stuffing it with gifts, I went with a fabric curling ribbon for a more dramatic look that can later be removed.
