This easy DIY sidewalk chalk paint is the ultimate summertime activity that let’s your kids get creative and messy outdoors! Scroll to see how it’s made!
My kids have officially been on summer break for a little over a week now and while my older kids want nothing more than to sleep in, my little ones want the complete opposite (click here for a fun mermaid craft for kids)! We just finished moving into our new home this weekend and a big part of the reason we decided to move was so that the kids can get out and play a lot more in a backyard and we wasted no time getting started!
Easy DIY Sidewalk Chalk Paint
As soon as we were done moving I decided to let the kids (mostly Joseph, for now, because Olivia and Lauren are both sick) do one activity I’ve been promising we could do when we moved: make this easy DIY sidewalk chalk paint! Normally I would have just bought the sidewalk chalk paint and avoided the mess, but Joseph loves getting messy! I did, however, prep in advance and got the NEW Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar and, since we have a cold running through our house, I also grabbed the Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash both at Target to help keep the germs under control.
I grabbed both in Manuka Honey, but it also comes in two other scents: Silk & Magnolia and Coconut Milk. Did you know that this is the ONLY bar on the market that combines the moisturizing qualities of a beauty bar with the antibacterial protection you expect from Dial? Yep, there’s antibacterial. There’s moisturizing. And now, there’s 2 in 1! Scroll to see how to make this easy DIY sidewalk chalk paint!
We all suffer from extremely senstive dry skin so choosing the new Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar was a no-brainer for a few reasons:
- Unlike other soaps, Dial’s unique nourishing formula gently cleans, moisturizes, and leaves your skin feeling huggably soft and beautiful, which is perfect for the hot summer months where we’ll be wearing shorts and dresses!
- Use on both your face and body for soft, smooth skin (love that it can be utilized for both)!
- Ultra-moisturizing formula from Dial gives you soft, smooth and radiant looking skin (perfect for my dull dry skin) vs. ordinary soap

Supplies:
1/3 cup of corn starch & 1/3 cup of water
Food coloring
Paint brushes
Several plastic containers
Squeeze bottles
Direction:
Add cornstarch, water, and food coloring into your squeeze bottle and shake! Pour your sidewalk chalk paint into containers.
**You might have to shake (or stir, if you already poured it into the containers) a few more times if the cornstarch settles.
Let the fun begin!
For an even messier time, you can add your sidewalk chalk paint to a larger container and let the kids dip their hands and make handprints! It’s a messy good time that can used as a fun way to teach kids colors, shapes, and even letters!
The equally as fun bathtime clean up!
