Spicy burritos with the crunch of nacho cheese chips! Keto crunchy beef burritos are a fun new way to enjoy Mexican food on keto.
Are Burritos Keto
No, traditional burritos are not keto-friendly. They are usually wrapped in either a corn or flour tortilla, which is way too high in carbs to fit into a keto-friendly eating plan.
Then, they are filled with more carbs – rice, refried beans, and sometimes, corn salsa. Thankfully, it’s really easy to make keto-friendly burritos with a few ingredient swaps!
Keep reading to learn how to make the tastiest burritos you have ever made – and be able to enjoy them on the keto diet. In fact, each burrito in this recipe only has 4 grams net carbs! And they fill you up so much!
How To Make Keto Burritos
The secret to making tasty low-carb burritos is to use delicious low-carb tortillas. But, what are the best keto-friendly tortillas? There are a lot of different kinds out there – find the ones that work with your body.
I prefer the zero-carb tortillas from Mission. You can find them in different sizes. For this recipe, use larger tortillas.
You also need to be careful with each ingredient you add as filling. In order to keep the carb count low, I suggest following this recipe.
Adding few slices of jalapeno peppers is ok, but don’t soak the burritos in salsa – that will increase the carb count too much.
Dorito Burrito
Dorito nacho cheese chips are way too high in carbs to go into these burritos. Thankfully, I found a brand of keto-friendly chips that taste just like Doritos.
When you add Quest nacho cheese chips to the burritos, it gives them a bolder flavor and a wonderful crunch! These chips are optional.
Don’t worry if you don’t like how the burrito tastes with crispy chips inside of them.
Keto Beef Burritos
Keto beef burritos are the perfect lunch or dinner. They satiate your cravings for Mexican food, just like some of my other favorite keto-friendly Mexican recipes!
When I feel tempted to go out to a Mexican restaurant, I’ll make either Keto Beef Tamale Pie or Keto Taco Bell Mexican Pizza at home. Both options really hit the spot!
And since these beef burritos only have 4 grams net carbs in them, you can serve some tasty Keto Mexican Street Cauliflower with them! They are the perfect Mexican side.
How To Store Burritos in The Freezer
If you want to make and freeze keto burritos, don’t add the nacho chips. Their texture will change too much as they freeze and thaw.
Make the burritos with all of the other ingredients. Then, wrap each burrito in aluminum foil and store them in a freezer-friendly bag.
They will stay fresh in the freezer for up to six months. Since they are individually wrapped, you can grab one at a time whenever the craving hits you.
