Eat seafood for lunch! Ready in 15 minutes, this shrimp and crab seafood salad is spiced with Old Bay, for a classic flavor.
Seafood Salad
If you need some keto lunch ideas, then whip up this quick seafood salad. The light meat from shrimp and crab are enhanced by aromatic red onion and bold Old Bay spices.
Everything is smothered in a creamy mayonnaise and topped with fresh green onions. This is a recipe that you’ll enjoy whether you’re on keto or not.
It’s a fun way to add some diversity to lunch. And if you double or triple the recipe, it makes enough to share at BBQs or potlucks.
Quick tip for anyone that doesn’t like how strong red onions are. If the smell or flavor is overpowering, then let the chopped red onion sit in a bowl of water for a few minutes.
Then, rinse them off in a strainer. This will cut back on how pungent they are.
No Carbs In Old Bay
Are you worried about carbs in Old Bay seasoning? Don’t worry about it!
The classic Old Bay Seasoning by McCormick has zero carbs. It’s just a blend of spices – mostly celery salt, red and black pepper, and paprika.
Old Bay is a seasoning that pretty much everyone from Maryland loves to add to everything, but especially crab! I used Old Bay in my Old Bay shrimp recipe and it turned out perfectly.
So when I wanted to season this shrimp and crab recipe, I had to use the only spice blend that fit – Old Bay!
Shrimp and Crab Recipe
For the best taste and nutrition, splurge on real lump crab meat. You’ll notice a difference!
Plus, imitation crab has way too many carbs in it. Imitation crab has 14 grams of carb in 1/2 a cup!
It’s so much better for you to eat the real crab meat. It’s pure protein without carbs.
This is the perfect recipe to make when you want something that you can make quickly but you’re not in the mood for a chopped salad or chicken or egg salad. A seafood salad tastes refreshingly different.
Plus, there is just 1 gram net carbs in each serving. This gives you plenty of carbs for the sides!
What To Eat With Salad
The easiest way to eat this salad is with a fork. But if you want to eat more veggies, then make some lettuce wraps or add the creamy seafood salad on top of a bed of baby spinach.
You can also make a sandwich out of it. Use your favorite keto sandwich bread or use keto dinner rolls as the bread.
Since rice goes with seafood, make some cauliflower rice to eat on the side. For something crunchy and salty, make keto bacon wrapped cabbage.
It’s really high in fiber and fat and will satisfy your salty cravings.
Storing Seafood Salad
This is the perfect salad to enjoy later in the week with your meal prep. Portion it out and store it in an airtight container.
Keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can store it with the dressing, because there aren’t any veggies in it that will soften.
It’s a high-protein salad that’s perfect for a quick lunch on a busy day.
