I don’t have a particular style that I like to wear but I do know that I like to mix and match affordable pieces and have fun reworking them into outfits over and over again. Denim is and always will be the easiest piece for me to creatively build outfits with. Whether it’s casual with a tee or dressed up with heels, the possibilities are endless!
When I was asked to give a few pairs of jeans from Target’s new line of denim a 14-day test drive, I was SO excited because I knew they would knock it out of the park. But there was one thing that I was a little worried about it – the jeans would not be bought in store. They would be sent to me based on the measurements I sent to Target. I shop a lot online for tons of clothes but I’ve never had any luck ordering denim; they’re always too big in the waist or too small in my thighs (which always left me with an awkward and uncomfortable pair of jeans). Not the case with any of the three pairs that I was sent! In fact it was quite the opposite. Below is a behind the scenes look at how the three different styles they sent fit me and how I styled them.
I was sent three different styles: distressed boyfriend jeans, distressed jeggings and classic dark wash skinny jeans.

Distressed boyfriend jeans: I have a confession to make: I’ve never owned a pair of boyfriend jeans! I’ve always felt that I couldn’t pull them off and that they’d be too baggy and overwhelming on my petite curvy frame. The distressed boyfriend jeans were a pleasant surprise for me! The denim was SO soft, the distressing on point and they fit like I’ve been wearing them forever. And, quite frankly, they look and feel like a pair of designer jeans! I wore these out on a humid Florida day and normally I would have been dying but these were lightweight and kept me comfy. Favorite Detail: The softness and distressing was just amazing! They weren’t just distressed on the front like many jeans and the pockets and the hem have perfectly worn in details!

Light wash distressed mid-rise jegging: Again, SO soft, distressed to perfection and they fit like a glove! Love the way that the mid-rise helps disguise a stubborn few pounds I need to lose and they hugged my curves without being too tight. I can see myself wearing these with a ton of outfits. Favorite detail: Stretchy without losing shape and the hem rolled up flawlessly!

Dark wash mid-rise skinny jeans: Working from home has some perks and one of them is being able to work while wearing a pair of yoga pants or leggings. But it’s not ideal and I only wear them because of the comfort factor. These dark wash skinny jeans are super stretchy and an excellent alternative. I wore them all day while I worked and chased after my son Joseph and they were just as comfy. Favorite detail: Dark wash looks more polished and has a slimming effect.

My favorite: I loved them all for very different reasons but the fashionista in me loved the distressed jeggings and the fact that they can be worn with literally anything in my closet (not to mention they complemented my curves and eclectic style). Did I mention how fab they roll up? Haha! I kept them this way every time I wore them! I will definitely be styling for many years to come.

After trying all three styles, the one thing that stuck out was the fact that all the jeans had the perfect comfy worn in feel. And isn’t that what we all strive for in a pair of jeans? Target has done it again! If it wasn’t for trying out Target’s new denim line I would never have known that I could pull off boyfriend jeans; or know that a pair of skinny jeans could be as comfortable as a pair of leggings. Honestly I never dared to believe that a pair of light wash skinny jeans would make my legs look a mile long and become my favorite curve hugging go to pair of jeans.

I’ll admit that I’m usually not one for the distressed jeans look, but you pulled them off really well that I’m reconsidering it. Love all your shoes, too!
