Back when I didn’t have kids my morning beauty routine was so laid back. My alarm would go off, I’d pour myself a cup of coffee and head to the bathroom mirror to “put on my face” for the day. Putting on makeup was actually something I looked forward to. I would sometimes do a cat eye with bold red lips because I had the time to play around and be creative with my cosmetics Fast forward to being the mother of five boys and a couple fine lines here and there and my mornings are not quite what they use to be! I love being a mom to five boys and I’ve learned to cut corners and make everything I do (including my morning makeup routine) quicker and more effective. Below are my five steps to my five minute morning routine.

1. My youngest Joseph is teething and wakes up a lot during the night which means I have some serious bags under my eyes in the morning. Instead of trying to apply eye cream and then concealer, I kill two birds with one stone by using Neutrogena Rapid Dark Circle Repair. It not only moisturizes but it also instantly brightens and diminishes the dark circles under my eyes (with the added benefit that I get to save a little money by not using my slightly expensive concealer as often). Total Time To Apply: 1 minute

2. Mascara, mascara and more mascara! Before I do anything I start off by applying two coats of mascara. I apply it first to allow it to dry a little before I apply another coat and hopefully avoid any mascara mishaps (those are THE worse!). To finish off the look I then apply a tiny bit of eye liner to the outer bottom corner of my eyes. Total Time To Apply: 2 minutes

3. I try to drink a lot of water to keep my skin plump and soft but my skin tends to get oily with heavy creams. I find that gels work perfectly for my skin but they are a little expensive. Thanks to the Target’s handy Cartwheel App (if you don’t have it you MUST get it) I found the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water gel. It dries super fast allowing me to quickly apply makeup right over it leaving my skin soft and never oily. It really is a must-have that can be added to your facial skin care for under $20. Total Time To Apply: 30 seconds if that.

4. Foundation is important but I only use mineral powder foundation and I use it for two reasons: I like the no-makeup makeup look and my skin actually looks healthier if not a tad bit younger ever since I started using it. I take a powder brush, tap off the excess and apply in a circular motion across my face. Total Time To Apply: 30 seconds

5. My no-makeup makeup look is then finished off with a combination of red chapstick and clear lip balm. It gives me the perfect pink lips. Total Time To Apply 30 seconds

The end result!

This is my daytime makeup routine but on the rare night out I get a little fancy and do a dramatic cat eye (my favorite) and even apply some false eye lashes. I wish I had the time to do that every morning like I used to, but I would much rather make my weekly trip to Target with my little guys than a night out on the town. I’m always looking for some new makeup tips! What are some of your tips for hectic mornings?

Yes, I’m all about quick and easy beauty routines. I love Neutrogena products, they keep my skin looking clear.
I honestly don’t usually bother with makeup. But, when it can make such a difference in just 5 minutes, I may have to start!
I’m a no make up type of woman. Who needs to change and start putting a face on. lol
My beauty routine was divided in half each time I had a child. Five minutes is about all I get now.
My make up routine consists of washing my face in the shower and some lip balm. Mascara if I am lucky (but not always because it makes my eyes itch). I wasn’t taught how to apply makeup so I don’t love how I look with makeup on, which means I don’t take the time to do it.
These are some great tools to try in my routine. The water gel sounds particularly interesting.
ugh yearn for a stable day/nighttime beauty routine lol! Will try the eye cream and and hydroboost!!
I love that you apply mascara right away. I always do that last and I feel like I look scary right until the mascara goes on. Such a great ideas to make those eyes pop first. And I’ll definitely try that dark circle remedy. I have the worst circles!
I love a quick morning routine! I have been dying to try out the hydraboost – need to buy that asap!
I am lazy and just throw my hair in a ponytail everyday, so I will definitely be trying your routine, and that gel looks great. I wanna try it out!
Great post!Super simple!! I have never tried the dark circle corrector ! I usually just use foundation to cover, but I will have to try it 🙂 thanks

wow.. .that’s more than I do most mornings.
Some days the hair gets tossed up in a ponytail and there’s a quick dip of the lip gloss and I’m gone.
I think I should try your routine 🙂
