Happy first day of March! The year seemed to get off to an enjoyably cold and slow start, but now I’m ready for all things springtime and Easter! I don’t bake too often so when I do, I make sure I’m focused on getting in the kitchen during the holidays and make something extra sweet for guest. This year I decided to make caramel brownies and give it an Easter egg hunt theme by topping the brownies with green icing and the M&M’S® Caramel Laydown Bag that we bought at Walmart. Scroll down for the M&M’S® Easter egg hunt caramel brownie recipe.
If you hover over the picture below, you can easily purchase these pretty M&M’S® candies and the STARBURST® Jellybeans. Both are wonderful for baking, creating decorative patterns on cakes and/or cookies, and even for filling Easter eggs!
Everything seems so much prettier during Spring, and this year it’s got an extra hop to it because we’ll be celebrating Lauren’s first birthday shortly after Easter. Even stores like Walmart, where we bought all the ingredients for the caramel brownie recipe, are brimming with Easter goodies! I found the M&M’S® Caramel Laydown Bag conveniently located in the holiday section where they also had Easter baskets and eggs.
Caramel Brownie Easter Egg Hunt
This M&M’S® Easter Egg Hunt Caramel Brownie recipe is delicious and very easy to make because I used a cake mix from the box instead of making it from scratch. After I whipped this up I even snuck in a few for myself (I LOVE caramel M&M’S®).
Ingredients:
M&M’S® Caramel Laydown Bag
Green icing
Package of any chocolate cake mix
1 cup of evaporated milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter or margarine
10-oz package of caramels
2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Combine the cake mix and 2/3 of the evaporated milk and butter. Spread half of the batter onto an ungreased pan.
Bake for 15-20 minutes
Heat your caramels and the remaining evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat. **Make sure to stir constantly, until caramels are melted.
Sprinkle chocolate chips over the brownies then drizzle some of the caramel mixture. **I use half the mixture but you can drizzle the entire mixture for a gooey brownie.
Add the remaining batter by dropping a tablespoon (or ice cream scoop) of batter over caramel.
Bake for 25 minutes or until the center is set.
Once the brownies have cooled down, add your icing (I just used a fork to give the icing a grassy look but you can also pipe the icing) and place your M&M’S® around.
It’s so yummy!
Caramel Brownie Easter Egg Hunt
I like to make the table look cute for Easter, and to give my bowls a festive touch, I added bunny ears. Simply take two pipe cleaners (I love working pipe cleaners into my projects and recently used them for Olivia’s Easter basket), shape them into bunny ears, then glue them onto the back of the bowls.
