Out of all of the household chores that need to be done, the one that I actually enjoy is laundry. It’s definitely not the amount I have to do that I enjoy but it’s more of the scent of fresh smelling laundry that fills the house that I love. Scroll for a easy and fun DIY laundry drying rack makeover!
Right now we’re using Member’s Mark® Ultimate Clean laundry detergent in Fresh Scent that is sold exclusively at Sam’s Club (it smells amazing!). It’s exactly what I need to get clothes bright, stain-free, and smelling fresh at a fraction of the cost of some of the other leading brands out there.
Members Mark detergent is compatible and safe for all washing machines styles and comes with a convenient no mess dispenser that is a must for busy moms like me who are often in a rush and tend to spill. It also comes with a dosing cup for pretreating stains. It makes the ton of laundry I do a little bit easier on me and that to me is worth a million bucks!
Even with a tough acting detergent like Member’s Mark, with six kids there’s always laundry to be done! The older boys do like to keep a closer eye on their belongings.
DIY Laundry Drying Rack Makeover
The older boys like when I hang dry their clothes and to avoid their room looking like a laundry room, I decided to take an old dry rack and give it a modern look with some black, gold, and white spray paint.
See full tutorial below.
Drying Rack Make Over Supplies:
One Drying rack
Black, gold and white high gloss spray paint
How to:
If you’ve bought yourself a brand new drying set aside the wooden rails and sticks before you put it together.
Spray entire wooden rails black and set aside to dry.
Set aside the amount of drying rack sticks you want.
For laundry use and hanging accessories like hats, bags, or belts. The drying rack is nice enough to even set out on display.

What a cute idea! All drying racks definitely need this makeover. I want a stylish laundry room like you. Thanks for the inspiration!
I don’t mind doing laundry either. I also have a clothesline under my carport and love the look of clothes drying on the line. Our drying rack is set up in the garage with a repurposed A-frame from a swing that’s gone bye bye. Having those racks in the garage is great since it protects clothes from the rain, bugs, and with as hot as it gets in Florida, they’re usually dry the next day.
This is super cool! Our current apartment has the washer and dryer in the kitchen (weird, I know) so there isn’t much room for anything else. I’m SUPER excited though because we just bought a house (closing in June) and I’ll finally have a laundry room for something like this!
What a cute DIY project. It turned out great!
You are so crafty! That is way cute than what I have at home!
What a simple way to improve the look of a drying rack! I love it!
Oooh! I love the gold accent! I never would have thought to do this but it looks awesome!
I love this idea, thanks for a great tip!
I have no tips, other than to make sure that you get all of your laundry done BEFORE a storm comes. You never know when you will lose power and won’t be able to wash for a while.
This could be just what I need to get the dingy hue off our dance clothes and tights – and at a great value too!
What a fun idea! I would’ve never thought of doing something like this. Thanks for sharing! #client
Such a clever idea! I love how you spray painted it too! I need one of these in our laundry room stat!
This is so smart! We have those racks and they look so boring in our laundry room. I’ll have to do this to them!
