As sweet as a donut and as dense as a pound cake, this low-carb donut cake can be eaten for breakfast or served as dessert.

Low-Carb Old Fashion Donut Cake

Old Fashioned Donut Cake

If a cake donut is your favorite kind, then you need to make a donut cake. It’s not a cake in the shape of a donut. Instead, it’s a cake that mimics the flavor of an old-fashioned sour cream donut.

Low-Carb Old Fashion Donut Cake

It has either a glaze or frosting on top and the cake itself has a delicate crumb. Some people bake the cake in a bunt pan, others in a loaf pan.

So if all of that sounds delicious to you, then keep reading! I created a low-carb, gluten-free version of the popular donut cake.

The cake is made with almond flour and Greek yogurt (among all the other ingredients).

It’s moist and has the slight taste of cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s perfect in the fall or when you want a healthy dessert.

Low-Carb Donut Cake

There are only 4 grams net carbs in each slice of this scrumptious cake! It’s perfect for birthdays, baby or wedding showers, or if you’re just craving cake (and that’s a good enough reason for me).

Low-Carb Old Fashion Donut Cake

I baked it in a loaf pan because I like how the slices look. But if you want, you could bake it in a bunt pan.

You could also make low-carb donut cupcakes, too! Pour the batter into a muffin tin and bake until a toothpick comes out clean.

Then, use my icing on top. You can also change the flavor of the icing if you want.

Add some peppermint extract to make a minty frosting. Or sprinkle some sugar-free chocolate shavings for a bit of texture.

Gluten-Free Cake

If you’re making a cake for a party or birthday, then this is the perfect one for anyone that’s gluten intolerant or sensitive. And it has the same texture, so no one will be able to tell.

I baked it in a loaf pan because I like how the slices look. But if you want, you could bake it in a bunt pan.

To flavor the cake, I used a combination of cinnamon and nutmeg. But if you want, you could just sprinkle two teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice into the batter.

What To Eat With Cake

This low-carb old fashioned donut cake has a classic vanilla and cinnamon flavor – and it’s so good for you too! Enjoy a slice for breakfast with a keto brown sugar shaken espresso or a cup of coffee

And you should always serve cake with a side of ice cream! Make your favorite flavor of ice cream with it.

Keto Pumpkin Ice Cream is a fan favorite. My Low Carb Cottage Cheese Ice Cream With Sprinkles will taste best with the cake.

And if you love donuts, then serve the cake with some Keto Pancake Mix Cinnamon Donuts.

How To Store Cake

This donut cake takes about an hour to make. So if you’re short on time, you might want to make it ahead of time.

Low-Carb Old Fashion Donut Cake

If you do, store it in an airtight food storage container and keep it refrigerated.

This is important because the frosting is made with heavy whipping cream. The cake will stay fresh in the refrigerator for about three days.

You can freeze the cake, too! Keep it wrapped tightly and in the freezer for about six months. To eat it, let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
