Joseph 5 month appointment was yesterday at 1:45 around the same time he has a bottle and a nap. I knew going in that he wasn’t going to be a happy camper, so I came prepared with a bottle, blanket and his bobo/wubbanub (bobo is binky in spanish) and as soon as he got his shots, I pulled out his bottle and blanket and within seconds he was out! He slept the entire ride to the mall, all the way to the super market and when awake he was content the entire time!
With my other kids I’d schedule their appointments early in the day so I can get it out of the way and no matter how prepared I was it always left me with was a baby who was crying all day. I know everyone says that every baby is different, but Robert who’s nine and Dylan who is now 12 were pretty much the same and it made things a lot easier for me. Joseph is completely different. It’s almost as if he was born already knowing what he liked, when he wanted it and there’s nothing you can do to sway him. At times it can be a bit challenging, but I’ve learned to go with his flow and it’s so worth it when he flashes that gummy smile that melts my heart.
Yesterday was the perfect example of his personality, he was in pain from the shots but I had exactly what he needed at the exact time he needed it and it worked out perfectly. Maybe I just got lucky, but I scheduled his next appointment at the same time to see if works just as good.
