With just 5 grams net carbs per serving, this honey mustard kielbasa and green beans skillet recipe is delicious and low-carb.
Honey Mustard Chicken and Sausage
There are so many perfect flavors that all mingle together in the skillet together to create a dinner that everyone enjoys (including people that aren’t even on keto). It’s sweet and savory, with zest from the mustard and an earthy sweetness from green beans.
There are also smoky caramel notes from sautéing everything in the skillet together.
But it gets even better! All these ingredients simmer together in a creamy honey mustard garlic sauce.
That’s how all the flavors combine perfectly. The sauce incorporates into the meat and veggies, making them all taste iconic together.
Low-Carb Honey Mustard Sauce
Keto honey mustard has to be one of the best food inventions! Maybe not of all time, but at least in recent history.
I’ve used it to make a bunch of different low-carb honey mustard recipes before. All of them turned out perfect.
I made keto honey mustard chicken thighs for dinner and low-carb honey mustard chicken salad for lunch. I even made keto baked honey mustard ham for holiday dinner.
What’s in sugar-free honey? It’s not actually honey, that’s for sure. My favorite kind is from Wholesome Yum.
It tastes the most like classic honey. Here is how they describe it: “It’s naturally sweetened with Besti, a natural sweetener blend of the highest-grade monk fruit extract (from an Asian melon) and allulose (a rare sugar we can’t metabolize).”
They add tapioca fiber to make it gooey and a natural flavor from real honey. So you get the flavor and consistency of honey without the carbs.
Kielbasa and Green Beans
The surprising thing is that even with all the ingredients and the creamy sauce, there is still only 5 grams net carbs in each serving. You can enjoy every bite of this meal guilt-free!
And it’s the perfect dinner to serve anyone that’s gluten intolerant or has celiac because it’s naturally gluten-free too.
How many carbs are in green beans? There are about 5 grams total carbs and 3 grams net carbs in about 1/2 a cup of green beans.
Most of the carbs in this recipe come from the green beans and the heavy whipping cream. But green beans are really good for you, too!
They’re full of potassium and vitamin A!
Kielbasa Substitutes
There are a lot of different types of smoked sausage that you could use. I prefer kielbasa because I love the flavors from the spices that it has!
But you have a lot of options. Try it with Cajun Andouille smoked sausage for some heat or make it with sliced bratwurst for a bolder flavor.
If you don’t like sausage that much, replace it with something else. This recipe will taste delicious with ham, sliced hot dogs, or even chopped cooked pork chops.
Low-Carb Veggies
Give this recipe a try, even if you think you don’t like green beans. The keto honey mustard sauce overtakes the green bean flavor so it makes them taste surprisingly delicious!
But if you really don’t like green beans, you can replace them with a different type of vegetable. Instead of green beans, use cauliflower, broccoli, or even a few chopped carrots.
Carrots are higher in carbs, but they’re also really nutritious. So use them but also measure how many you use so you can track the macros.
