These past few days have been rough. Five days ago I woke up with slight cramping that led to numb upper legs and contractions. I couldn’t even talk through the pain and I knew I had to head to the hospital .I was immediately seen and strapped in to monitor the contractions and a sonogram to see if I was still closed. It wasn’t even 10 minutes later that I was told that I might have to deliver the baby if I was dilating and if they couldn’t get the intense contractions under control. Thankfully I was not dilating BUT I was actively contracting every 3-5 minutes. Then I was told I was going to need medicine to stop the contractions and some steroid shots for the babes lungs in case I had to deliver.. I’m only 7 months and it was terrifying to hear those words.
After 2 doses of procardia nothing changed and I was put under observation in one of the delivery rooms. The contractions were getting stronger and I couldn’t help and think what did I do wrong? Don’t all moms do that? After about 4 doses the contractions started to become less intense but they were still consistent and I was told that I might have to spend the night. I hate hospitals but I would have gladly have stayed for another 2 months if that meant that the baby would stay put but thank God I got released last night. The contractions were minimal and I was sent home with the procardia every 4 hours and bed rest. It wasn’t even 24 hours later that I was back at the hospital again with contractions and put on strict bed rest. It’s now 5 days later and the contractions are kept under control if I sit still all day. The slightest movements gets them going. We see how it goes from here. 🙂 I’m happy to be home and even happier that I didn’t deliver the baby- yet!
