Mi tiempo favorito is here and as one of my favorite Holiday songs from El Gran Combo says, “A comer pastel y a comer lechón arroz con gandules y a beber ron, que venga morcilla venga de to”. I’m ready to spread some alegria, eat, decorate and get my house smelling yummy. One of the most important things to me about the holidays besides food and decorations is scent. It’s a powerful sense that can easily bring back tons of memories and help create new ones too. A simple scent can bring on la alegria of the season.

Lighting candles has become a ritual that I picked up from my abuela when I was growing up. I have my spot where I keep my candles and lighting them has become a reminder for me to slow down, be present, and enjoy the moment. In the midst of all the busy holiday work and deadlines, the peace it brings is especially important for me and I hope the boys will carry it with them when they have their own family.

I’m hoping that I can get my tree up this weekend and start putting out all the fun crafts we’ve been making. Our latest is an easy DIY advent calendar made out of toilet paper rolls. It’s super easy and the kids love pulling out the mini ornaments and then placing them on the tree. Step by step instructions is below.

How To Make AN Easy DIY Advent Calendar With Toilet paper Rolls

What you need:
25 Toilet paper rolls
green spray paint
stapler
staples
mini ornaments
Bow or star
Tape
Battery operated lights
Instructions:
If you’re like me that likes to keep empty toilet paper rolls for crafting, then you’re a step ahead. If not, remove toilet paper off rolls. **Buy the cheap ones you don’t like, those are the easiest to work with.

Spray paint them inside and out. **Dont worry about the inside being perfect just spray enough so that the color shows.

Set aside to dry.

Stack them up into a triangle to form a tree. make sure you count how many are in each row.
Following the same pattern you created in the previous step, now Unstack rolls, then start stapling them together.

Wrap lights around the tree, place ornaments inside rolls and top with a bow.

Place on a table by the front door and let the kids pull an ornament out every morning for a daily dose of alegria or place on their nightstand for a nightly Christmas ritual.

How do you plan on bringing alegria into your home for the holidays?

What a cute craft reminded me of a tree AI did with my mom when I was a child. Thanks for participating in this shop #client
This is such a cute idea. I love Glade products.
I love how your advent calendar turned out!!
That is an awesome idea! So creative! I’m going to absolutely do this next year! Thank you for the muse! 😀
We went with an artificial tree this year, so I’m depending on Glade to make my house smell Christmas-y. Love your toilet paper tree!
This is so cute and I can not believe how simple it is. I need to make this with my girls.
I love how that turned out. You are so smart, and that’s a lot of saving TP rolls so you’re also a good planner.
That toilet paper tree is SO CUTE! And I love that it’s something I could make year after year rather than storing it!
That is such a clever idea. I’m sure the kids would love having it in their room.
That tree is so creative! I love how easy it is and that it uses recycle materials.
I would love it if you came to link up at our party tonight:

I don’t know why I never think to save our TP rolls to make something epic like this! I love it!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this idea. It’s kind of late into the season, but I still think I might make one this weekend.
