These keto chaffles taste just like chicken jalapeno poppers. They are both crispy and slightly spicy, making them perfect for lunch.
How To Make Chaffles Keto
Chaffles are one of the best things that keto cooks ever invented. The name came from “cheese” and “waffle” since they are usually made with lots of cheese. Some chaffles are made with almond flour, some are made with sugar substitutes.
There are hundreds of different types of chaffles out there. All you need is a recipe and a mini waffle maker. I don’t know why, but a mini waffle maker just works better than a larger one. Keep cooking it until it turns crispy and it will be perfect!
Jalapeno Popper Chicken
Even before I was on the keto diet, jalapeno poppers were my favorite snacks! If you like spicy jalapenos, cream cheese, and shredded chicken, then you will love these chaffles.
These three ingredients combine to make lots of other recipes too! They taste amazing in keto taquitos, or as a side dish in keto jalapeno popper green bean casserole. Or turn up the heat and make some keto buffalo chicken jalapeno poppers!
Or for a really quick lunch, make some keto jalapeno popper chicken salad.
There are so many different ways to enjoy these flavors, and these chaffles are just one of the best ways yet.
What To Eat With Chaffles
Since this is a savory and slightly-spicy chaffle, serve it with something sweet or salty. This chicken and broccoli salad has bacon on it – so it goes with almost anything.
If you like spicy foods, then make this spicy egg salad. It has jalapenos in it too! This low-carb chicken taco salad is another delicious lunch idea.
Add some sour cream on top of these chaffles and some avocado slices on the side. You have a complete meal ready to go!
Jalapeno Popper Chaffles
The spiciness of these chaffles is really easy to customize. If you want them to taste milder, just use fewer jalapenos. You can even leave them out entirely if you are making them for your kids.
To really bring the heat, use some habanero or poblano peppers! Feeling brave? Splash some hot sauce on top! That will really set your mouth on fire!
Probably one of the best things about these chaffles is that they don’t use any flour of any kind. They are naturally gluten-free, but they also don’t have almond flour either. So, if you have a nut allergy, you can enjoy these.
Trust me, use the full-fat cream cheese. When you are on the keto diet, your body burns fat for energy. So keep feeding it fat from healthy sources like cream cheese, fish, and olive oil.
Savory Chaffle Recipe
This chaffle recipe turns out really crispy and is surprisingly filling. I used a smoked chicken rub. Other fantastic spice combinations could be a spicy taco seasoning or even a combination of garlic powder and paprika.
You can also use different types of cheese. Pepper jack is a very popular one because it has a hint of heat too!
