What Is Boursin Cheese
Boursin cheese is a spreadable creamy and soft cheese. It’s a name-brand of a luxury soft cheese that was created in Normandy, France.
It’s made from milk and cream and while you can find it sold plain, it’s most often sold seasoned with different combinations of spices.
The most popular one is the garlic and herb blend that I used in this recipe.
What To Make With Boursin Cheese
There are a lot of different ways to use the garlic and herb Boursin cheese spread. Some people like to eat them as a cheese ball on top of crackers or raw vegetables.
You can also use it on top of toast or bake it with pasta for a cheesy pasta bake. In this recipe, I used the Boursin cheese as a filling inside cured meat wraps.
The creamy and crumbly cheese is the perfect thing to eat with savory and bold cured meat. You’ll eat bite after bite of the tasty Italian roll-ups.
Boursin Cheese Substitutes
Boursin cheese is a fancy and exotic cheese spread, but you have options if you want to use something else. Cream cheese is the easiest 1:1 substitute for Boursin cheese. It has a slightly-sweeter flavor but a very similar texture.
Gorgonzola is another easy substitute for Boursin cheese. And if you need something that’s dairy-free, use a garlic and herb goat cheese. It’s soft and spreadable.
What To Eat With Roll Ups
If you’re going to serve the keto Boursin roll-ups at a party, then I suggest serving them with a few other similar appetizers. Keto salami cream cheese roll-ups are slightly different but still delicious finger foods.
Guests will also enjoy eating keto charcuterie jars or keto Italian pinwheels. Or eat these savory roll-ups with a sweeter option, like keto Reese’s dip or keto air fryer cinnamon sugar twists.
How To Store Roll Ups
Since these are a no-bake recipe that tastes best when they are served chilled, they are the ideal thing to make ahead for a party or add to your weekly meal prep. The best way to store them is unsliced.
Keep them wrapped in the plastic wrap without slicing them. Then, slice just the amount that you need for the meal or the party.
The Italian Boursin roll ups will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to three days.
