Fewer carbs and more flavor than regular spaghetti! Keto cottage cheese pasta bake has a creamy marinara sauce you’ll love.
Cottage Cheese Pasta Bake
Don’t let the long list of ingredients intimidate you. You probably already have all of the ingredients in your pantry and refrigerator.
This pasta casserole includes two types of meat – Italian ground sausage and chicken breasts. Together, they taste bold and flavorful.
Then, the baby spinach adds important nutrients and fiber (and some beautiful colors).
But what about the cottage cheese? This is the not-so-secret ingredient that makes the casserole so rich and creamy.
You might also notice some slightly tangy flavors in it too – this is also from the cottage cheese.
Keto Cottage Cheese Pasta
Cottage cheese pasta bake is a family-friendly recipe you can make for dinner that everyone will eat – even if they aren’t on keto. Serve your favorite side dishes with this beefy pasta.
Start out with a copycat Cheesecake Factory Salad. Then, add some vegetables to the table.
Keto roasted garlic turnips and green beans will taste perfect with the marinara sauce in the pasta bake. Or add a bowl of low-carb seven layer salad to the table.
It’s higher in carbs – and this pasta bake already has 6 grams net carbs in each serving. So, be careful with which side dishes you eat with it.
I love making keto crack biscuits on the side with creamy pasta recipes! I dip the biscuits into the sauce, and they’re divine.
Cottage Cheese Substitute
If you’re not a fan of the curds in the cottage cheese, use a food processor to blend it all together. You’ll still get the same flavors in the pasta bake without the texture that’s throwing you off.
But if you really can’t get over the texture, then use ricotta cheese. It’s the perfect substitute for cottage cheese in pasta casseroles.
It’s smooth and creamy and little thicker. So you might have to use a little bit less.
Best Keto Pasta
When it comes to low-carb pasta, you have so many options. The best one depends on your taste buds and texture preferences.
For this recipe, I used Palmini angel hair pasta noodles. I love that they are already pre-cooked.
All you have to do is drain them and warm them up. Plus, they’re super high in fiber, so that’s really good for your gut health.
But if you don’t like canned pasta you have other options. Make this recipe with zucchini noodles.
They’re also low-carb. Only use spaghetti squash or butternut squash noodles if you have enough carbs in your macros.
How To Store Pasta Casserole
This keto cottage cheese pasta bake is delicious for meal prep this week. To store leftovers, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate them for up to three days.
It’s easy to reheat. Just place it on a microwave-safe plate and heat it in the microwave for about a minute or two. If you want to enhance the flavor a bit, sprinkle more cheese on top.
