These salami tacos are the answer to eating tacos on keto. Savory salami slices make the best taco shells, with a creamy filling.
Salami Tacos
Maybe you’re looking for something a bit different. Instead of cheese roll-ups or even cheese-tasting taco shells, you want something with more flavor. Well, you just found it!
Frying and folding salami into taco shells gives you so much flavor! Then, they are filled with cream cheese, sour cream, bell peppers, chives, and dill.
Even though they might remind you of my Keto Salami Cream Cheese Roll Ups, they are definitely not the same thing. The flavors are so different.
Cream Cheese Tacos
Instead of filling the tacos with shredded chicken or beef (or some other form of protein), I filled them with a creamy mixture of veggies and spices. This is the perfect combination because the meat is on the outside now.
You could almost call them inside out keto tacos! Instead of cheesy shells, the meat is the shell.
Here’s another tip for you. Please remember to soften the cream cheese before you mix it.
It’s so much easier to mix if you take it out of the package and place it on the counter for about 20 minutes.
Salami Taco Shells
To make the salami taco shells, I suggest using deli salami. You will want the slices to be as large as possible.
The tacos end up being bite-sized, which is the perfect size for a quick lunch or to set out at a party for your guests.
Can you use a different meat instead of salami? Sure! You can make this with deli-sliced pepperoni, too.
The cured meat should be thick enough that when you bake them as a taco, they stay in the taco shape. Sliced turkey or chicken won’t do this so it’s best to do this with salami or pepperoni.
What To Eat With Tacos
if you like spicy foods, add some keto sweet and spicy canned chicken salad to the table with your cream cheese salami tacos. Altogether, they are a very filling meal, high in healthy fat.
If you’re serving them at a party, then make some Keto Tomato Basil Cream Cheese Pinwheels to go along with them. They are easy for guests to pick up and eat.
They also taste super good with some keto ranch popcorn chicken too! If you’re really hungry, then silence that hunger with more healthy fats!
Some Keto Jalapeno Popper Fat Bombs will keep you feeling full until your next meal.
How To Store Salami
Can you make the tacos ahead of time? Yes, you can but I recommend eating them fresh.
If you reheat them, I suggest using an air fryer or baking them again. This way, the taco shells won’t soften in the microwave.
Store your salami tacos in an airtight container. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to three days.
If you need to store them in multiple layers, place a sheet of wax or parchment paper in between the layers.
