Indulge in pure decadence and stay within your macros! This easy keto truffles recipe shows you how to make them in three different ways.

What Are Truffles
Chocolate truffles are a bite-sized dessert that originated in France. They are basically balls of rich chocolate ganache that are coated in either cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or chopped nuts.

They are different from small chocolate candies (like those boxes of chocolates that Russel Stovers makes). Chocolate candies are usually filled with either solid chocolate, caramel sauce, or a nougat.
And they can be made in a variety of different shapes (like squares or kisses). Truffles are almost always a small round spherical shape and they are always made with chocolate ganache instead of nougat or cream.
Are Truffles Keto
No, classic chocolate truffles that you find at a chocolate shop are not keto-friendly. Let’s look at the most popular kind that you can buy at almost any store – Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffles.

There are 5 grams net carbs in one truffle — and 4 grams of pure sugar. But, you can make keto-friendly chocolate truffles.
All you have to do is use sugar-free ingredients. When you use keto-friendly chocolate and sweetener, the carbs per truffle drops significantly.
I used Lily’s baking chips because they are so high in dietary fiber that is brings the overall net carbs count down too. You don’t have to use Lily’s, there are a lot of other brands out there.
I also really like the flavor and ingredients in ChocZero chocolate chips, too.
Keto Truffles
Do you struggle with craving sweets on the keto diet? I totally get it, I do too!

When this happens, you can either fight through it, or find a way to enjoy sweets that are made with keto-friendly ingredients. I admire everyone that’s able to completely cut sweet out.
I found that the best way for me to stay dedicated to keto is to make desserts that fit in with my carbs.
These keto truffles are some of the best! They taste like I’m eating rich, milk chocolate or fudge.
The texture is spot-on. The toppings are the same as traditional truffles, and the middle are just firm enough to stay together while melting in your mouth.
Keto Chocolate Truffles
These keto chocolate truffles taste like the sweet milk chocolate truffles you loved to munch on before you went on the keto diet. In order to maintain the firmness of the chocolate ganache, I suggest using Swerve confectioner’s sugar substitute for the sweetener.

It stabilizes the ganache in a way that liquid sweetener just can’t. If you want to change the flavor of the truffles, use a different kind of sugar-free or keto-friendly baking chip.
Make really rich truffles by using sugar-free dark chocolate chips. They also make a sugar-free white chocolate chip variety too.
Truffle Toppings
If you just want to follow the recipe but still want some freedom to customize the truffles, I suggest changing the coating or toppings. I included the most popular coatings in the recipe card – unsweetened coconut flakes, cocoa powder, and chopped nuts.

But what else can you use on the outside of truffles? Make the truffles taste a little salty and crunchy and coat them with chopped sunflower seeds or sesame seeds.
Dust them with some pumpkin pie spice or roll them in some sugar-free sprinkles. You can even be extra creative and mix some of the toppings together!
