This low carb spaghetti is a family favorite! It comes together in just minutes and is completely keto-friendly. Keep reading to learn how to make this delicious pasta dish.
Low-Carb Spaghetti Sauce
When I was a kid, spaghetti was my favorite meal! I could eat some spaghetti. The best part was the sauce. I love the slightly-sweet and zesty marinara and would drench my noodles in it.
I love to cook, but I don’t have time to make my own spaghetti sauce. My favorite low-carb spaghetti sauce is Rao’s Homemade. Look at the ingredients label and you’ll see they are only made with whole ingredients and no sugar. They really do taste like homemade sauce!
Marinara sauce is made from tomatoes, so be careful with how much you eat. You might not want to drench your noodles in it like I did when I was a kid.
Low-Carb Spaghetti
I used Natural Heaven spaghetti palmini noodles. They come in a can and require basically no prep time (you just have to warm them up!). They also have a texture that very closely resembles regular spaghetti noodles! My kids couldn’t tell a difference, so you probably won’t either.
You’ll find a variety of different types of palmini noodles at your local supermarket. You can use them for all sorts of recipes too! I’ve used palmini noodles to make low-carb chicken pad Thai. Talk about delicious!
Palmini noodles are low in carbs because they are so high in fiber. All that fiber makes the net carbs lower. They are a fantastic type of food. Even on the keto diet, you can enjoy pasta again!
Keto Meatballs
I made my own homemade keto meatballs that taste delicious on the spaghetti and marinara sauce. You could also just eat the meatballs by themselves and dip them in marinara sauce for lunch!
I made these meatballs with ground beef, but you can substitute the beef with ground chicken or ground turkey. If you want to use sausage, I suggest adding a little bit of sausage with another type of meat. That way you don’t increase the calories or saturated fats too much.
The best seasoning for meatballs is simply salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and Italian seasoning. If you want them to have a little heat, add some red pepper flakes.
How To Freeze Meatballs
You can also freeze the meatballs and then pull them out when you are ready to cook. This will save you prep time on those busy nights. Here’s how to freeze homemade meatballs.
First, bake the meatballs according to the recipe. Then, let them cool off completely. Next, place the meatballs on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Place the baking sheet in your freezer. Allow the meatballs to freeze completely.
After they are frozen solid, place the meatballs in a freezer-safe resealable food storage bag. They will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Reheat them in the oven at 350°F for about 15 minutes.
What To Serve With Spaghetti
What are some of your favorite types of food to serve with spaghetti? I like to add my keto garlic knots – they taste just like garlic bread! If you prefer a toast, make some low-carb garlic toast on the side with it.
I love to serve a chopped salad with my pasta dishes. This shrimp avocado and spinach salad is one of my favorites! Low-carb chicken cobb salad is another contender. They both taste delicious with this spaghetti recipe.
