Bring the flavors of the south to your dinner table! Keto shrimp and grits are a cheesy dish made with creamy cauliflower rice grits.
Keto Grits
Whenever you think of southern food, the first thing to come to mind is probably grits. It’s a creamy dish made from cornmeal. There are a lot of different ways to prepare grits.
Lots of people love making it with butter and sugar and eating it for breakfast. Other people prefer to add lots of cheese and spices to it and serve it as a side dish with some crispy keto fried chicken.
In order to make low-carb grits, I replaced the cornmeal with cauliflower rice. All the other ingredients are pretty much the same. I still used lots of heavy cream, butter, garlic, and cheddar cheese.
Southern Style Cheesy Grits
You can serve these grits with almost any entree or dinner you make! They taste especially good with the blackened shrimp. The bold seasonings in the shrimp really taste perfect when you dip them into the creamy cauliflower grits.
If you like cheese, then add more! Play around with the flavors, too. Use jalapeno cheese or even horseradish cheese! There are some fun varieties in the specialty cheese section of the grocery store.
Shrimp and Grits
Save yourself time and buy some shrimp that is already peeled and deveined. Otherwise you’ll have another step in the process.
One of the best things about cooking shrimp is that it cooks so quickly! You only have to saute them for about 6-10 minutes, tops.
If you want them to have a bit more bite, add a little Cajun seasoning! It tastes incredible with the blackened seasoning.
Keto Shrimp and Grits
I cooked the shrimp on the stovetop, but you can also grill the shrimp before adding them to the grits! They don’t take very long to cook on the grill, and they get a wonderfully smoky flavor when you cook them this way, too.
This is a really delicious meal that you can eat in your weekly meal prep. Store the shrimp and grits separately in the refrigerator for up to three days.
What To Eat With Grits
Grits make a delicious side dish for both breakfast and dinner! If you want to eat them for breakfast, leave out the cheese and add a lot of butter and little bit of sweetener.
Then, make either a keto sausage and egg McGriddle copycat or some keto sausage egg and cheese bites. They are both filling and high-protein.
If you’re going to serve the grits for dinner, make some keto bacon avocado fries with keto fried chicken and keto bacon jalapeno oopsie bread. Dinner is served!
