Take broccoli to the next level! This low-carb garlic parmesan broccoli skillet is smothered in cheesy goodness that kids and adults love!
Creamy Broccoli
Broccoli is one of the most popular types of low-carb vegetables out there. That’s why it is used in so many different recipes. Whenever I make a broccoli recipe, I try really hard to break away from the “tried and true” ways of cooking it and make the dish new and exciting.
Almost everything is better when it is smothered in a rich and cheesy sauce, so that’s what I did! To save time, I did not roast the garlic, but if you have a few extra minutes, that step makes a huge difference! Roast the entire head of garlic in the oven and it will have so much more flavor and a stronger aroma that infuses into the sauce.
It’s so good!
Skillet Broccoli
Since this entire recipe is made on the stove, you can use any type of skillet that you have.
Trust me, using a cast-iron skillet makes cleaning up a lot faster and it makes the food taste just a teeny bit better. There’s another little benefit of cast iron skillets. They are oven-safe! After you cook the broccoli in the cheese sauce, place it under the broiler for a few minutes.
This will crisp up the cheese, giving it a golden crust that has a rich and deep flavor.
Garlic Parmesan Broccoli
The recipe calls for fresh broccoli florets, but you can also use frozen ones.
The only problem with using frozen broccoli is that some of the ice crystals will melt and slightly water down your cheese sauce. It’s a minor detail that most people probably won’t even notice.
For more fiber and nutrition, throw in some cauliflower florets too! I love covering both types of veggies in cheese, and they will create a really filling side dish together.
Finally, don’t forget to garnish it! Garnishing your recipes isn’t just for show (although it does make them look nicer), it adds more flavor too. Sprinkle some fresh parsley for a sweet and earthy taste, some red pepper flakes for some heat, and more parmesan cheese for extra cheesiness!
Creamy Broccoli Recipe Side Dish
This low-carb broccoli side dish is so mild that it goes with any main dish you cook. Add some keto garlic knots – they are fun to dip in the cheesy sauce. Or make some keto skillet chicken and mozzarella. It has lots of similar flavors that mesh really well with this broccoli.
It also makes the perfect pair with a dish of keto eggplant lasagna or a serving of garlic butter steak. Pick your favorite recipes and enjoy!
Broccoli Alfredo
The garlic parmesan sauce tastes almost like a restaurant-quality alfredo. In fact, it has all the same ingredients as alfredo sauce – cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, and parmesan cheese.
Take this recipe and add either shredded chicken or a handful of cooked shrimp, along with some palmini noodles. Now you have an entire meal – your favorite keto chicken or shrimp alfredo!
