~ Homemade Banana Ice Cream + 4th of July Must-Haves
Now that I’m all moved and the kids are done with school, I’m slowly getting ready for our yearly 4th of July activities. Normally we head over to my moms for a BBQ while the kids swim in the pool, but this year I’m going to keep a little low key because we are still adjusting to the move and dragging out the babies just seems like too much work. Instead we’ll be grilling at home and setting off some fireworks. Scroll down to read Homemade Banana Ice Cream + 4th of July Must-Haves.
Below are some must-haves for the 4th of July.
Cute straws. They make any drink better and these star straws are perfect.
Pretty cups. Even though paper cups are more convenient, these blue cups will pop with any summer themed table decor, so I’ll definitely get lots of use out of them.
I have a hard time getting Joseph to eat any fruits and veggies. I have to be really creative in presentation and taste (meaning it has to look like something he already loves) so I buy tons of fruit to make homemade ice cream. Below is the easy to make banana ice cream with red, white and blue trimmings. It’s perfect for the 4th of July!
Fun plates and Viva® Towels & Viva® Vantage® Towels that I buy at Publix are a must all year-round but during the summer is when we really stock up!
For things like wiping my kids sticky hands, I count on the soft and smooth Viva® Towels. These are so much more than just for spills, they’re even great for drying off dishes and wiping down the counters.
Homemade Banana Ice Cream + 4th of July Must-Haves
Ingredients:
Ripe bananas
Blueberries
Cherries
Whip cream
How to:
Peel and slice bananas and place in air tight container and freeze for 2-3 hours
Remove from freezer and place in blender.
Blend until smooth. **Takes a few tries and about 5 minutes
You can eat the banana ice cream right from the blender but I freeze it overnight for a thicker ice cream texture.
Place the banana ice cream in a bowl and cover with whipped cream, blueberries and a cherry on top for the perfect 4th of July treat!
The Viva® Vantage® Towels are stretchy and the woven texture is great for scrubbing all the sticky ice cream when my kids inevitably spill. They’re strong enough to even use on a grill!

My daughter has been on a banana kick for the past two months, its all she will eat. I will have to pass this recipe along to her and try it myself. It looks amazing!

I’ve already tried doing the first part of this recipe (the banana part) – even just blending the frozen pieces – it’s SO good! 🙂

That looks so much healthier than traditional ice cream – but you do still have the mess factor. You know what they say… if it’s not messy, it’s not good.

This recipe looks and sounds amazing. We love ice cream at our house. My boys would love this and they can help me make it, too.
