What Is In Green Goddess Dressing
Green goddess dressing is a classic green salad dressing that was invented in the 1920s. The original recipe contained mayonnaise, sour cream, parsley, chives, anchovies, lemon juice, and vinegar.
The parsley and chives were the only green ingredients. The name came from the “Green Goddess” play that a famous actor played in. Lots of history, I know!
Since then, people have added their own little spin or twist to this recipe. The thing that didn’t change is the tanginess—some sort of vinegar or lemon juice mixed with creamy mayonnaise and bold Dijon mustard.
Green Goddess Chicken
The secret to the tastiest green goddess chicken is marinating the chicken thighs in the green goddess dressing. For the best results, I suggest letting the chicken thighs marinate overnight.
In fact, thighs will always turn out slightly better than chicken breasts because they retain more juices and don’t dry out as quickly.
If you have chicken thighs, I suggest letting them marinate overnight at a minimum. Chicken thighs will taste delicious if you let them marinate for just an hour or two but white meat needs more marinating time to keep it tender.
Keto Green Goddess Dressing
If you like the flavor of this green goddess chicken, then you’ve got to make my keto green goddess egg salad next. It has a lot of the same flavors and herbs and you’ll love serving it for lunch.
In fact, I suggest making a double or triple batch of the salad dressing and storing it in an airtight mason jar or similar container. Then, you can use it on top of your meat, as a dressing for chopped salad, or as a dip for your raw veggies.
What Goes With Green Goddess Chicken
Keto green goddess chicken tastes amazing with anything you want to serve on the side. Add something sweet, like basil marinated berries and cottage cheese.
If you want a salad on the side, make either keto southwest salad or some keto Caesar broccoli salad.
Then, serve some keto cottage cheese edible cookie dough for dessert. It’s the perfect thing to finish off a delicious dinner.
