Easy Baked Pickle Spears
Have you ever tried to bake pickles? If you haven’t, then definitely start with this recipe. It takes the typical pickle and turns it into a hot, savory snack. This BBQ bacon wrapped pickles recipe is so easy to make that you’ll be able to make it whenever the mood hits you.
These baked pickles taste like something you’d buy at a carnival – but they are amazingly low in carbs! Keep reading and I’ll share details about the ingredients I used and more tips too.
In fact, if you enjoy these oven-baked pickles, you will probably like my fried pickles recipe too. It’s just as good!
Low-Carb BBQ Sauce Ingredients
To make the low-carb BBQ sauce, I used the same exact recipe as the sauce for my keto little smokies. Save that recipe because it’s another super-popular party food idea.
The main ingredients in my ket0-friendly BBQ sauce are tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, stevia, Worcestershire sauce, and spices like garlic powder and paprika. It’s a sweet and smokey sauce that tastes amazing on almost anything.
Not a fan of BBQ sauce? It’s optional in this recipe. The baked pickles are perfectly fine without it.
BBQ Bacon Ideas
If you are planning a cookout or just need an idea of a side dish for a party, these are perfect! I love wrapping bacon around types of food and grilling it to perfection. My low-carb bacon-wrapped shrimp is always a hit at cookouts (even kids love them!).
Another fun idea – cut the pickles into bite-sized pieces and serve them with picks at a party. They are so enticing and everyone will love them.
How To Make Bacon-Wrapped Pickles
I baked these in the oven and they only take about 30 minutes to make. The sauce is optional, so if you skip that step they are ready even sooner.
If you have an air fryer, use it. They will crisp up the same way. The time and temperature amounts are the same in either the air fryer or the oven.
You can also use turkey bacon instead of pork bacon. The cooking times are pretty similar for both of them.
Savory Keto Snacks
These little baked pickles taste perfect with other low-carb appetizers like parmesan chicken wings or some spicy buffalo wings.
You can also serve them with some keto salmon patties with parmesan cheese. Those are really filling and could even be the main course. If you like fried foods, serve some keto zucchini fritters with these pickles. Together they both have a wonderful crunch!
What To Dip Pickles In
Trying to decide what to dip your oven-baked pickles in? It’s a tough decision because there are lots of choices. In fact, if you go to the grocery store, browse the salad dressings and dips and pick out something that is low in carbs and doesn’t have added sugar.
It can be tough trying to find something I love, that’s why I usually end up just making my own sauces and dips. My copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce tastes amazing with these pickles.
Are Pickles Low Carb?
Yes, dill pickles are low-carb and keto-friendly. Do not buy sweet pickles because they have added sugars and will increase the net carb amount.
