Meatballs are such an easy go-to for lunch or dinner. They are perfect for your weekly meal prep because you can store them in an airtight container and they will stay fresh for three or four days.

There are so many different ways to make meatballs. Mozzarella stuffed meatballs will always rank high in my list – but so will these keto turkey meatballs. 

The best thing about these keto turkey meatballs is that they aren’t as greasy as beef meatballs. Ground turkey is a leaner protein if you are trying to eat less red meat.

You could also make this recipe with ground chicken or ground pork. 

Asian Turkey Meatballs

The Asian sauce is probably the best thing about these meatballs. It’s both spicy, syrupy, and bursting with bold umami flavors that overpower your senses and make you want to eat more.

There are lots of other ways to use this spicy-sweet Asian sauce too. Drizzle it on top of cauliflower rice, or add it on top of your egg roll in a bowl.

You can even double the recipe for the sauce and use it as a marinade for chicken breasts or chicken thighs. 

Meatball Appetizer Recipe

You can serve these meatballs as lunch or dinner, or display them appropriately and serve them to your guests at a party. If you want to serve them as an appetizer, I suggest placing toothpicks into each individual meatball.

Serve the keto meatballs with some low-carb dan dan noodles. Start out with some egg drop soup and then add some keto scallion pancakes to the side.

If you want to offer your family some variety, make some bang bang cauliflower to go along with it. 

How To Freeze Meatballs

The best way to make these meatballs last the longest is to freeze them. I love freezing meatballs because it means I always have a quick lunch ready when I need it.

To freeze them, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Then, place the baking sheet in the freezer.

Once they are completely frozen, put them in a resealable freezer-safe food storage bag. Keep the frozen meatballs in the freezer for up to six months.

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients
  

Turkey Meatballs

  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Green Onions

Keto Asian Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Cocontu Aminos or Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar Substitute
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground turkey and egg.
  • Add remaining ingredients for meatballs and mix well.
  • Form approximately 10-12 meatballs. Place them on a large baking sheet and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes.
  • While meatballs are cooking, whisk together ingredients for the Asian Sauce. Set aside.
  • Once the meatballs are fully cooked, remove from the oven and place on a serving plate.
  • Serve with the Asian Sauce on the side, as a dip, or top the meatballs with the sauce. Garnish with additional green onions and/or sesame seeds.
